Obvious cyberpunk jokes aside, authors can absolutely have clauses in their contracts that prevent this. I use suggested anti-AI language from the Australian Society of Authors, but examples for these types of riders are widespread. Use them. Help protect the livelihoods of creatives.
Have just learned, to my great disappointment, that the Spanish audiobook of Burning Chrome is voiced by AI. Reviews, I’m told, are already complaining.
