To the PHAs out there, if you sign up for the "Work & Dignity Coalition" (all of the scare quotes), you are signing up to being used by the most banal, bad faith opponents of our social safety net as cover for draconian - and racist - policies like work requirements.

The continuing violation theory of when injury occurs (across all manner of causes of action) is grounded in unambiguous Supreme Court
precedent. HUD has no authority to disregard it when deciding which administrative complaints to exercise jurisdiction over.

From friend of PRRAC Richard Rothstein, reviewing an interesting new book about how to curtail judicial supremacy.
The Making of a Judicial Coup
Nikolas Bowie and Daphna Renan’s new book reminds readers that the Supreme Court’s power to determine a law’s validity has no basis in the Constitution.

Really insightful thread from @nexusproject.bsky.social about the parallels between anti-trans hate and antisemitism. The same propagandists use the same playbook for both forms of hate.
THREAD 🧵

This week, Elon Musk's America PAC launched hundreds of anti-trans ads, part of a $100 million midterm spend.

In 2024, a Musk-funded PAC ran antisemitic ads reminding Muslim voters that Doug Emhoff is Jewish.

That's not a coincidence.

I’m not watching the match because of both work and (justified) bitterness towards David Ellison causing me to have canceled Paramount Plus, but it is objectively hilarious that Llorente scored against us (because of course he did). I hope his dog (Anfield) is happy.

This - from nearby - is an interesting hodgepodge of the most nonsense pretexts for opposing development & as strong of a basis for claiming an affordable component is inadequate as I can imagine. Why? Because 90% of AMI IS market rate for new construction.

a very pre-internet band, one you learned of by listening to college radio or haunting record stores. I think we live in a cynical age where no one believes a band might be making music just because they like how it feels to do so, but HJ were strictly business. Their music was for them. Rest easy.

Really appreciative of @newsday.bsky.social & @joshuasolomon.bsky.social for reporting this story, which describes some of the most egregious allegations of discrimination and maladministration by a PHA that I've ever seen.

This is between the first three Velvet Underground albums and the first three A Tribe Called Quest albums for me, which reinforces that my musical taste hasn't changed since I was 18.

But why should it?
Honest answer:

The Stooges
Funhouse
Raw Power

But on The Stooges I never listen to "We Will Fall" (10 mins. of side 1), I skip last third of Funhouse, and for Raw Power it's the Bowie mix BUT also need that mix's remasters to really *hear* "Penetration," and "I Need Somebody" is still a dead spot.

This is a train that I've been on for a long time, and I'm not getting off. Interestingly, DC proper (not its suburbs) is one place where this doesn't really work. There are four courses in DC, none of them private with three on NPS land & one on DoD land. 1/

If Haley Stevens ever met a representative group of let’s say ten Jewish Americans, it might dawn on her that perhaps three of them would be ride or die for Abdul (with a mix of because of and despite his views on Palestine) & that rhetoric like this is extremely offensive to them!
She knows she’s losing so she said let’s just go mask off.
