It is a strange feeling to see a South African immigrant at work destroying a functional, albeit imperfect, government after decades of careful preparation by an Australian immigrant, all enthusiastically enabled by native born US citizens who are afraid of immigrants.
Why are Chinese AI models censoring historical events like the June 4th, 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre? How can we trust their accuracy on any topic if they cannot get the easy stuff right?

That was honestly the most egregiously bad call I have ever seen in Major League Baseball. This is outright favoritism. That umpire needs to issue Dan Wilson a written apology. @mariners.com @mlb.com

I try not to overdo this bit but ... my man is begging for it.

Let's go.
Miller: "It's not a coincidence that when you look at these violent Antifa demonstrations not one of the people that is demonstrating looks like a normal person. Not one looks normal. They're all deformed in some way in their appearance, in their dress, in their mannerism." #cdnpoli

Kent Carpenter spent half a century counting the life of Philippine reefs
By some accounts, in the Philippine reefs of the 1970s, large groupers appeared every 50 feet or so. Some seemed as large as Volkswagen Beetles. Around them were snappers, fusiliers, wrasses,…

This was never about immigration policy. State sanctioned violence has always been the point. Our streets are being occupied by a masked paramilitary force designed to sow fear and assert control.
Allowing poorly trained agents to roam our streets, kick down doors without warrants, and shoot people dead in the street is state-sanctioned violence—not immigration policy.

ICE has once again murdered one of our neighbors, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. ICE claimed that he “weaponized his vehicle,” which is the exact same lie ICE told about Renee Nicole Good, & have refused to release the bodycam footage.

We must abolish & prosecute ICE. We must destroy the American Gestapo.
ICE fatally shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo during a Houston enforcement operation. His family says he was a hardworking father on his way to work. This is a deadly pattern at DHS: no transparency, no oversight, no accountability. We demand an independent investigation.

We put a giant bronze woman in the harbor of our greatest city, beckoning the world to follow her light to a place of refuge, peace, and justice.

Either the Statue of Liberty means something, or America means nothing.
maybe this is a hot take but i feel like permanent high immigration is the only way to sustain a positive national myth that starts with colonialism
Mamdani: "Those who led through exclusion & isolation have tried to win power & enrich themselves by turning us against one another ... today, too many of our leaders do not believe in a vision of this nation as an asylum for the persecuted, but rather as one that persecutes those seeking asylum"

I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure.

Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

A detail that has really stuck with me about Tony Judt‘s ‘Postwar’ was the section about how hundreds of thousands of ex-Nazis went on to become East German communist apparatchiks

Flunkies like Flanagan remind me of these characters—not truly attached to an ideology so much as place in the in-group
Caitlin Flanagan's beat at The Atlantic was "Bari Weiss is great" and now she works for Bari Weiss' Free Press and she's mocking the people Bari Weiss fires at CBS.
