I once spent an afternoon with Esther Rantzen doing PR with her at the Beeb back in 1991. She was utterly, utterly wonderful. RIP

Arthur of the Britons; King of the Castle; Into the Labyrinth; The Clifton House Mystery; The Georgian House; Follow Me; The Doombolt Chase; Robin of Sherwood; Sky and Children of the Stones. All bore the name of Patrick Dromgoole, a visionary producer who passed away last week. Such sad news.

10 years ago today I left Australia after three years working with a phenomenal team of animators, artists, writers and creatives where we produced a full 26-part kids science-fiction series for the ABC - and a decade on it’s finally available in the UK and North America for free via Amazon Prime!

Oh that’s desperately sad about Phyllida Law. Wonderful actress and writer and in an alternative universe, would actually have been cast as Lola McGovern, the first human companion in Doctor Who …

seeing people complaining how dry and dusty this summer has been and the festivsls they frequent are - the same people who are flagrantly using AI in their day-to-day life - is a case-study in irony even alanis morissette would consider too on the nose

So very sad to see that William Orbit has left us. His name crops up as a remixer and/or producer more than almost anyone else in my EDM collection. And of course his version of Samuel Barber’s Adagio will forever be a crossover masterpiece

I just realised I joined BBC Wales to work on Doctor who and Torchwood (SJA didnt exist at that point) twenty years and three weeks ago as of monday just gone - 12/06/06. It’s also over 15 years since I quit (but still in Cardiff cos it’s the best city in the universe). God I feel old.

Oh lovely Anthony Head. Had the pleasure of directing him twice – on Big Finish's Doctor Who Excelis trilogy episodes where he played various versions of Lord Grayvorn, then later, on The Infinite Quest, where he played our villain Baltazar. What a gentleman, what an actor and what a sad loss. RIP.

Michael Keating. What an actor and what a man. It was my great pleasure to direct him more than once on audio for Big Finish. One of the funniest, smartest and most charming and self-deprecating of people. He will be so very missed. RIP lovely man

20 years ago this past week I made my first visit to BBC Wales, to start work on Doctor Who The Inside Story. A couple of months later, I was actually offered a job on the show, moved here full time and 20 years on, I’m still living in Cardiff and still loving the city.

Currently doing a Buffy rewatch with @clemer97.bsky.social and @colonelmatt.bsky.social. Xander was such a flawed but utterly real character, imbued with so much charm by Nicholas Brendan for a role that in less capable hands, could have been unlikeable and an arse. RIP Nicholas, such a tragedy.

Awww, have always been a fan of The IPCRESS File and its four sequels, and the Game, Set, Match and the Hook, Line and Sinker trilogies. Len Deighton will be missed. RIP
