Some wonderful and helpful suggestions for warding off AI doomerism in the responses here.
OK, people who follow tech & AI hype more closely than I do: my 20-y.o. daughter, a creative soul who hates AI & never uses it, has become convinced by recent cycles of tech-bro bullshit that humanity is doomed. I need articles/podcasts to show her that resistance works & is happening right now.

Some stars are sui generis, literally inimitable. They create their own space in the culture, their own genre of human. And when they're gone, no one fills their shoes. There's no "next" Fred Astaire or Mae West or Audrey Hepburn. There will be no "next" Dolly Parton. Even the idea is absurd.

And the newspapers all suggested there was no evidence he actually did it.

Lucky me, I got to review the A.R.T.'s "Rhinoceros" for @bostonglobe.com. Turturro is great, but what Giamatti does with the Act II transformation scene will go down in theater legend. A scaldingly funny and then just scalding staging that couldn't be more relevant to life in the age of MAGA. Yowza.
