America started a war, spent billions & changed the world after 9/11.

Every year in the US, >1,400 kids (one tower) die by VERY PREVENTABLE firearm suicide (not all suicides, mind you), and its only gotten worse in the past 10 years.

You are a contradiction, America.

RFK Jr has a particular perspective on healthcare that is formed by his own personal experiences and tragedies. Let’s explore it on this week’s episode of the podcast.

Deprescribing & Deparenting

RFK Jr. set his sights on antidepressants & we're not stoked about it. I’m joined by @melodyschreiber.com and @tylerblack.bsky.social to discuss the federal push to curb SSRI prescribing and what it really means for patients.

Just listened to another excellent episode @kavehmd.bsky.social, where they discuss RFK Jr.’s dangerous views on mental healthcare and SSRIs.

This episode stars @melodyschreiber.com & @tylerblack.bsky.social, the former an incredibly diligent health journalist and the latter an A++ psychiatrist.

ASK ABOUT MAID!

I am a suicidologist & have testified to the Canadian Senate on Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). I formally invite everyone on X to "ask me anything"* (RULES BELOW).

There is a lot of misinformation going around about Canada's laws and policies, and I'd like to help.

Ask away!

You nailed it @tylerblack.bsky.social.
This is the disposition of the modern man. We must learn how to counter it. The truth is that these kind of people, and there are now many of them in the world, are dangerous.

Donald Trump’s surgeon general pick, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, has largely flown under the radar for her past vaccine advocacy.

But the reporting has missed her promotion of hydroxychloroquine, vaccine skepticism, anti-mask narratives, and supplements.

But we’ve got you covered.

Dr. Janette Nesheiwat went from the mainstream to promoting hydroxychloroquine, encouraging vaccine hesitancy, and selling supplements.

In the past 41 years, there have been substantial reductions in mortality at every age. Modern medicine, which includes vaccination, medications, surgeries, therapies, and approaches, as well as public health initiatives, have saved lives.

🏳️‍⚧️FAQ for posterity:

Why do you use pronouns in your bio?

Because it's an easy way to promote inclusivity & to increase awareness of gender expression. It costs me nothing, &because I work with kids who are establishing their identity it shows that I don't make assumptions.

Swap out “the right” for “antipsychiatry” and it’s the same valid point.

Just a matter of time ‘til the trolling starts?

👏Suicides continue to fall in Canada👏

Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, there has been an ongoing decline (well past periods of pandemic) in suicide rates in Canada. Going to the end of 2023, we can see significant decreases.

Want to learn Japanese? My online teacher, Aki, has some available slots. She's lovely and thorough, and I really enjoy it. I've seen her for seven years now!

If you tell her I sent you, you'll get no discount but she will smile and make fun of me.

Part 2: "The Mandate"

Contrary to media/republican pronouncements, the election of Donald Trump was one of the narrowest (by popular vote, +1.73%) in history, with only 7 elections since 1800 being narrower.

We are going to have to at some point have honest conversations about weaponized disinformation as a threat to human life. Adult, mature conversations. Not ones that say "but my free speech" or quote some slaveowner from the 1700s.

Ones that recognize that disinformation kills.
