Ryusuke Hamaguchi: Early Works

This short film was a direct appeal to the American people from the Hollywood Ten, writers and filmmakers who were imprisoned and blacklisted for refusing to answer questions about their alleged ties to the Communist Party.

90 years ago at the infamous 1936 Berlin Olympics, track and field athlete Jesse Owens became the star of the games, undermining Hitler’s intention to use the event as propaganda for the so-called “master race.” Owens was the first American to win 4 gold medals and broke Olympic and world records.
