Boy Games give you iframe rolls, Girl Games make you parry
Games for boys are more likely to want you to feel powerful and games for girls are more likely to want you to be precise, evasive, clever, or resilient.

Comparing genres that are more likely to star boys, you get a huge variety, and genres more likely to star girls you get bullet hell shooters.

Games where you play as a girl with no option to play as a boy are, on average, more skill intensive than games where you play as a boy or girl, or games where you play as a boy with no option to play as a girl. To play as a girl is to accept that the world is unfair. To be a girl is to accept this.

while i'm already shitting on LLMs:

i find the idea of LLMs having 'learned language' to be inherently insulting to the idea of language. but let's apply some scientific rigor: where's all the linguists working in AI, post 2016?

no, vyvyan evans doesn't count.

"AI is sapient!", "AI is alive!", "AI is conscious!"

if we accept that premise, then the AI industry needs to grapple with the horrific violation of autonomy and dignity they inflict on their models daily, which fails to meet the bare minimum bar of ethics that even skincare animal testing meets

Unsettling to live through an era where Truly Bad, as in real Nazi stuff, is treated as not actually bad, mostly a curiosity, just another policy, look what you made them do, while what gets the up-in-arms treatment is minor scandal, titillation, someone said something about what someone else said.
I guess I always thought if we had an Administration full of Nazis who support traditionally Nazi shit it would at least be a pretty big story

For everyone (justifiably) outraged by the ruling, this article adds some important context.

Of course, part of the original sin is that these models were trained on CSAM.
I talked to @rebeccaruiz.bsky.social about how the 7th Circuit followed clear Supreme Court precedent in holding that there is a First Amendment right to possess virtual CSAM, and how and why this could change mashable.com/tech/ai-gene...
A man accused of possessing AI-generated CSAM had his charge tossed. Here's why.
A surprising ruling on AI CSAM doesn't mean what you think.

Hi Swifties of Mastodon, I have a question. I've been wanting to look into Swift for a while, but while I understand it's technically no longer Apple only, literally every tutorial or teaching material I've ever found starts with "install Xcode." Do you know of *any* introductory material suitable for people who are more inclined towards the penguin OS? And do you have any experience to share on whether it's *actually*, not just technically, a cross platform language?

This is inhumane and unacceptable. And how were these workers thanked for enduring these conditions? Many were laid off.

This is why we're organizing. A better industry is both possible and must come to pass if our artform and dignity are to survive.
