Emily was found banging her head against the Nail shortly after this conversation.
A screenshot from the video game Control of Emily Pope talking to Jesse Faden. Emily appears to be speaking and gesturing with her pencil and clipboard, with a smile on her face. There is a screenshot of a tweet on top from Twitter user michael (@FilledwithUrine) that says "[flirting] yeah those tax benefits for married couples sure are kinda cool right?"

This is canon.
A 4-panel comic. In first and second panel a cartoonishly drawn Jesse Faden is running with a smile on her face. In the third panel she has a thought bubble showing she is thinking about Emily Pope, and her smile is larger. In the 4th panel she looks shocked and there is a transparent lesbian flag overlaid on the panel.

My rheumatoid arthritis flared up again this week so bad I couldn't even use my Azeron Cyborg to play Control Resonant, even with assist mode

I had scheduled with a friend to play the game for me and it was great because at the end he was there to pat me on the shoulder while I sobbed

Jesse Faden from Control: Resonant. Detail from the previous image. A green crystal earring hangs Jesse's bag. Emily Pope as featured in a Control: Resonant trailer. It looks like she's wearing the same green earring seen on Jesse's bag.

Models i have painted over the past few months. So happy with my progress.
The oldest is bloody lictor, he is basic but cool.
The latest model is the imperium toilet paper dispenser, the smallest model of these but also the best detail. I am so proud of the improvement in my control 😊

Some additional information on Abdication... Cass is a character and Control makes an appearance. Commander Thistle, too. Another character from the series also returns. Plus the Shroud of Ghost Bird, a relic that constitutes the sacred remains of her uniform, takes on an occulted significance.

Pleased to finally announce... Abdication, the last Southern Reach novel!

"There will come the days of the watcher, the drowned woman and the shadow of a man who keeps falling apart with each step, but first comes the moment the birds appear at night from the gaps between the stars, far from home."
Publishers Marketplace Deal Report, August 6, 2026: Jeff Vandermeer's ABDICATION, the last novel in the Southern Reach series, in which an ornithologist exiled to a remote coast stumbles on a terrifying secret,  a self-proclaimed king pursues a mystery hidden in a strange weather station, and a man who can become a cormorant is tasked with a deadly mission through a future landscape transformed by Area X, for publication in October 2027, in a significant deal, to Jenna Johnson at Farrar, Straus, by Joseph Veltre at the Gersh Agency and Alex Kohner at Yorn Levine (world).

The image is of a four panel comic. The first panel shows Sarah, the protagonist, as a child. Off panel, someone says to her, “Enjoy your youth!” The second panel shows child Sarah again, now frowning. The person off panel continues, saying “After you’re 30 you’ll be old and your life will basically be over.” Before the last two panels there is text that reads “LIFE AFTER I TURNED 30.” The third panel shows adult Sarah opening a door. The fourth panel shows the door opens to a beautiful field with flowers, a rainbow, and a pond. Sarah says “Wait what.”
