The night stand is right where it's always been.
Somehow I seem to have forgotten this fact.
Ow, my elbow.

I know that's not a valid haiku form but you try to compose poetry when it feels like your arm just got run over by a freight train.

In North By Northwest at ACT last week they dropped an All About Eve joke in the middle of some dialogue, so last night we watched All About Eve again just to close the loop.

New song based on what @vanessavivante.com said to me a couple months back.

Singing along with an instrumental song doing odd harmonies and countermelodies as loudly and obnoxiously as I can because I live in a tourist town and that's what locals do in tourist towns. Or not.

If someone offers to take you to a Laurie Anderson with Sexmob concert go. Do. Yes. Holyfuckyes. The end.

First day of fall, it hasn't even snowed anywhere yet, but last night I saw a Christmas tree lit up in someone's apartment window.

Be very careful in choosing your enemies. Making friends is easy but enemies require due diligence because they require a far bigger investment.

Today was actually a good day. No real pain or new flares to complain about. Went out and did actual stuff. Hardly remembered what that was like. I want more of that.

Seeeeee???!!! It's not just me.
Practicing the song ("Little Flame" by Carsie Blanton) we're singing at the next East Bay DSA general meeting, and the main thing I need to practice is not crying (songs making me cry is extremely normal for me but I prefer to only allow it when I'm alone)

I'm one of those weirdos who can simultaneously strongly disagree with you but still like you and get along well with you. It's a superpower I must have picked up from some long extinct, more reasonable time in this planet's history.

The sign by the trash area said Private Dumpster and immediately I heard Tina Turner in my head.

Had to refresh my memory about the difference between a baritone guitar and a bassVI. Got it now. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

When I first saw Heima it made me lowkey jealous that Sigur Rós gets to play in such beautiful surroundings. Then I started playing concerts in and around Alma, Colorado in the summer and I realized: This is my Heima! I mean, Alma!

Robot baristas like the one in SFO need more tattoos and piercings if we're supposed to take them seriously as food service professionals.

I love when uberspikey guy sees my trumpet and immediately dismisses me with "I hate jazz!" I've played this horn onstage with many of your punk, goth, and industrial heroes you fucking moron! I also played it with far better jazz heroes of my own who you've never heard of. I get around.

Something you don't know about me. As a kid I had cancer. The treatment for that messed up my heart so as an adult I had two open heart surgeries. I recovered stronger than ever and now I'm getting really old and I'm worried that I may, completely by accident, be immortal. Dammit, it's not my fault!

It's really difficult for me to talk with people after performing. I'm shy anyway but after a show it's like my head is on another planet. I don't like leaving the impression I'm being aloof but that probably happens a lot.

Jimmy Scott used to come out to perform about once a year and we got to see him. What an amazing person he was! I learned a whole lot about playing the horn by listening to him sing.
