When stereo arrived in the 1950s it was quickly followed by a plethora of albums designed specifically to show off the new format. This 1958 Capitol album, narrated by Art Gilmore, featured a side of music and a side called ''Sounds Of Reality"

In the 1970s EMI New Zealand launched a reissue series of classic UK beat and pop singles under the banner catalogue number prefix BRIT - This one, from Cilla Black, was BRIT 9, coupling "Step Inside Love" with "Alfie"

Two classic rock and roll instrumentals on the legendary Leedon label; Mickey Shorr and the Sure Shots covering Sandy Nelson's "Teen Beat" with their own "Jungle" on the back. This is from 1959 and was also issued on Lee Gordon.

DEALING WITH MORMONS
Here is my technique for dealing with Mormons when they come to the front door..(this works with Jehovah's Witnesses as well). Open the door, look around the doorway, stare at them bug-eyed and say, in a thick Eastern European accent "Yesssss?"

At an early Madness gig at the Nashville Rooms, West Kensington, 1979, Suggs threw a copy of the just released 'The Prince' into the heaving mass at the front and I caught it. Only competition I've ever won.

Uncut and high definition blu-ray edition of the Hammer/Shaw Bros kung fu horror spectacular - Peter Cushing's Van Helsing battles Dracula in deepest China while martial arts battles rage all around them. Splendid stuff!

One of my favourite London venues to play, the Nashville, in North End Road. One of the first Tronics gigs was here, in 1977, when we shared a bill with Brighton band The Depressions. Saw Madness, Joe Jackson, Skids, Mekons, many others in there. I think it's long gone now.
