British Wireless for the Blind Fund is now Visably.

For nearly 100 years, we've helped people with sight loss tune back into their world. We give people the right tech and stay until it clicks.

Meet Meg.

New to Visably – and on a mission to help make worlds wider and lives brighter through tech.

She joined our small yet mighty team around the table this week (with plenty of tea), getting stuck into plans for new tech support, more volunteers and more ‘I can’ moments.

Watch this space. 👀

Meet 12-year-old Annabel, who loves stories, swimming and pop music. 💛

After receiving a Voxblock, an audiobook player especially for children, through our free technology service, she can now choose and enjoy stories independently.

Her mum says: “It’s like a whole new world has opened up.”

Your experience of sight loss can shape what we do and how we do it.

We're excited to be launching our Lived Experience Panel - a group of people living with or caring for someone with sight loss who will help shape a brighter future for our community.

For Joanna and her family, tech has brought a little more ease, independence – and plenty of laughter – to everyday life.

The devices, provided by our sight loss tech support team, are now used for everything from learning and practical tasks to music, comfort and staying connected.

Today is #ColourBlindAwarenessDay

The date marks the birthday of John Dalton, a scientist born on 6 September 1766, and the first person known to recognise that colour blindness exists.

Today around 3 million people in the UK are colour blind. Keep awareness going for recognition and support!

This #InternationalDayOfCharity, we’re celebrating what charity can make possible.

For us, it’s about helping people with sight loss find more “I can” moments in their lives.

That’s why we're here. 💛

Meet Chip 💛

Chip is six, full of personality, and finding new ways to learn, listen and explore with his iPad from Visably.

The right technology can help open up opportunities for children with sight loss to enjoy the world in their own way.

Turns out not everyone was captivated at our recent brand launch event. Like this guy, who thought he'd take the chance to grab 40 winks.

This #InternationalDogDay we're celebrating all the lovely guide dogs working hard each day for people with sight loss.

You deserve a rest every now and again!

As tech changes, we adapt. But everything we do is rooted in our incredible legacy...

It all started when some mates built a makeshift radio for their friend who'd lost his vision in battle. That act of love sparked a movement that continues today.

Could you help make the world wider and brighter for people with sight loss?

It's an exciting time at Visably. We've just launched a new brand. We're building new services based on our deepest-ever research. And we're setting a financial plan to ensure we're there for everyone who needs us.

Football has always been a big part of Ian’s life – and sight loss wasn’t going to change that.

We provided him with an accessible pocket radio so he can follow live commentary at Bristol Rovers matches for himself.

As Ian says: “The pocket radio gives my independence back.”

The right tech can open up a whole world of possibilities.

At St Vincent’s School in Liverpool, we provided iPads and Alexa devices to help young people with sight loss learn, explore and build confidence with technology.

We love hearing what the young people themselves think. 💛

The things that keep us connected matter.

That’s why we’re here: to help people with sight loss find the right technology, and the confidence to make it part of their lives.

When tech's not a friend, it can feel like an enemy.

Our research showed how, at it's best, tech can be a key to better mental health for someone with sight loss. But a bad tech experience can tap into feelings of inadequacy.

Some moments mean everything.

Rediscovering a favourite hobby. Hearing a familiar voice. Feeling connected to the world around you.

Thank you for sharing your stories with us. It's what inspires our team every day. 💛

How do AI glasses change the world for someone living with sight loss?

We asked a group of people who've used the tech, what it means to them. The answer...

The right support can make all the difference.

For Paul, it meant sight loss was no longer a barrier to doing what he loves most – making music.

At Visably, we're helping people with sight loss make the most of technology, build confidence and enjoy the things that matter most to them.

“His disabilities aren’t his limit... His life is full of colour: just in a different way.”

Chip's one of more 5,000 people whose worlds we made wider and brighter last year.

Behind each of those numbers is a story. We'll let those do the talking…

Visably isn't about tech... it's about people.

Like Laura, who told us what our new brand means to her.

Hint. her story's not about gadgets. It's about colour, connection, and her daughter flying on the backs of dragons. ❤️

A huge welcome to Visably – and a new era for the charity that was British Wireless for the Blind Fund.

The result wasn’t the one many of us were hoping for.

But the World Cup reminds us how powerful sport is in bringing people together.

For sport lovers living with sight loss, accessible audio means being able to follow every match, every cheer, every conversation and every unforgettable moment.

"Tech isn't just computers, gizmos and shiny blue-sky futures... it's colour, sound, connection, expression. Honestly, it can be an absolute godsend. But, when it's not working, it can really hurt."

We're growing our services to ensure no one's left behind by tech.

Keep watching for updates! 💜
