An unrivaled combination of classic small coastal towns, rural charm and stunning natural beauty.
On Saturday evenings this October, Carter Park plays host to free outdoor movies: The Princess Bride on October 3; Grow, a British film set in a made-up "Pumpkin Capital of the World," on October 10; and The Sandlot on October 24. Check the website for showtimes and details, and bring a blanket!

Half Moon Bay FUN FACT: ✨The Coastside's cool foggy climate is ideal for mushroom hunting, Brussels sprouts, artichokes, flowers, and pumpkins (plus scenic coastal farming).

Half Moon Bay is dressed for fall. There are pumpkins stacked by the doorways, a scarecrow driving a tractor across one shop window, and Frankenstein keeping watch in another. After the pumpkin patch, save an hour for a slow walk down Main Street and see how many more you can spot.

Fall is here, and the pumpkin patches around Half Moon Bay are open for the season. If you can come midweek or early in the day, the fields tend to be quieter, with more room to explore before you pick one out. Once you've found yours, head into town for lunch and an afternoon on Main Street.

Pillar Point Harbor, earlier today. The morning started out foggy, and by early afternoon it had burned off to this. Fall on the coast usually works out if you give it a few hours.

Summer's End Music Festival, Saturday, September 19, 11 to 5 at the new amphitheater in John Carter Memorial Park. Moonalice, La Gente SF, the Rob Tracy Band, and more. Free, all ages, and a short walk from Main Street.

When the temperature soars inland, the best place to beat the heat is on the coast. If you're ready to cool off, stay a few nights in Half Moon Bay and remember how it feels to wake up to morning fog and the sound of waves crashing in the distance.

Labor Day Weekend started off with a stunning morning on the coast, and it looks like we’ll be treated to great weather all weekend. Hope you’re able to spend at least part of the long weekend here with us in Half Moon Bay!

Most people see Half Moon Bay's coast from a car window or a hiking trail along the bluffs, but a fortunate few see it from horseback. It's an adventure worth considering if you're looking for something beyond the typical stroll on the beach.

There are mornings when Half Moon Bay still feels very much like the small farming town it has always been. A truck is parked outside the feed store, and Main Street is just getting on with the business of the day. A lot has changed over the years, but some mornings, not so much.

A 300 lb pig took a stroll down Hwy 1, and our Sheriff's deputies handled it like they've done it before. They probably have. For the record, that's not the actual pig in the video, but we understand it made it home safely. A reminder that Half Moon Bay is a farm town first, a beach town second.

Roosevelt Beach, late in the day. This is the north end of Half Moon Bay State Beach, and it's usually the quieter part. Park off Young Avenue, cross the dunes, and the beach opens up in both directions. If you time it right, you can walk until the light does this, then head into town for dinner.

The harbor often has a moment right before sunset where everything settles. The boats are docked, the water is smooth, and there's one lone person out paddling. Most people are already on the road home by now, but it's worth sticking around for.

Most people arrive here the same way, driving over Highway 92 or down Highway 1. But there's another way in.

Ride along with Outside the Cockpit and see what it's like to skip the drive and drop in from above.

Farms, Fish & Flowers is back for its 35th year — flower farms, a working goat dairy, historic ranches, and Pillar Point Harbor, up close. July 25, 10–4, $20 a tour. Tickets on sale at coastside411.com/product/farms-fish-flowers-tour

The best of the Coastside isn't on the highway. It's just off it.

Fishy Flashback! 90,000 baby salmon, one glorious group belly flop into Pillar Point Harbor. A month later and we're still not over it.

The water hasn't moved yet — every cloud doubled on the surface, the boats dead still. A short drive down Highway 1 and the week just quiets. You don't need a complicated trip. Just one that feels different.

Half Moon Bay isn't trying to impress you. It's a working coastal town — a harbor that still runs on fishing boats, a Main Street you can walk end to end, farms that sit right up against the ocean, and miles of open coast to walk slow.

afternoon down at Purisima near Half Moon Bay. a foggy day favorite since the weather is basically always the same among the big trees and it’s just some absolutely gorgeous single track.

Half Moon Bay does the Fourth right. Lions pancake breakfast, live music, a block party on Main Street, and the Old Fashioned Parade at noon. This is what 250 years looks like on the Coastside. We hope to see you here!

Why do we go to Half Moon Bay at every possible opportunity?

Because nothing about it ever ever ever gets old.
