having a well earned horizontal day. I've BEEN on it. today is a Elvis & bed, zero thoughts, horizontal special. I'm pooped.

a door knocker just said "I assume you're the homeowner" while I was standing there in slippers and a glow-in-the-dark skull vans t-shirt, and honestly I respect that level of kind judgement my dude. you understand the complexities of this weird generation. but no, no no no. he's at work.

can you self-prog murphy's law or is it one of those things that can only happen spontaneously by definition. if I keep doing things that would be inconvenient to be in the middle of when the doctor calls, if means it'll trigger his call action- right?

a comic about being so dedicated to yelling at myself that I wish I could learn an entire cryptic language just to make sure it lands appropriately. there are no skeletons left in my closet, they all took up residence inside of me instead. I think it's why my joints crack so much now.

so far in my stumbling upon comic artists on instagram, my impression of the scene is that everyone is super fucking nice, especially the canadians, bc I've had so many people follow me back? which in today's insta world, is unheard of.

I finally caved and put a movie on. that means the doctor should be calling any second now.

having a daily writing practice now is funny because I honestly don't know what it's for, or why, but I just assume at some point I'll come up with things, and that in itself is probably the actual point.

trying to focus on preparing for this phone call, tripping & falling face first into invisible thought traps that send shards of trauma shrapnel everywhere instead.
April 12, 2026 at 3:29 PM
I had the weirdest dreams last night that seemed cryptic in that they were aggressively trying telling me things in a curb stomping, mentally scarring kind of fashion.

the good news is all this Fun With Comics made me totally forget about my phone appointment with my doctor tomorrow until a couple hours ago. whoops! but yay? no sense getting worrying about it now, whatever that's gonna be is how it's gonna be.

I'm gonna just keep neurotically opening my comic and re-reading it until I post it. the stupid instagram algorithm gods say not to post on weekends so now I'm just twiddling my thumbs until monday. it does actually make sense that less people are scrolling on their phones on the weekend tbh.
April 12, 2026 at 1:22 AM
just got a really sweet message about my comics as I rolled into the parking lot so don't mind me. gonna cry in the bookstore like god intended. when did people start getting so nice to me.

the original thumbnail sketch I had of this comic and what it actually turned out to be are so wildly different it's insane. but she's done & I am mighty pleased.
April 11, 2026 at 3:46 AM
zoning out into comic land is very peaceful and lovely, it's doing wonders for my sanity. I don't have to think about any impending doom. it's a shame I already know there's no money in comics.

my next comic is only 4 panels, and it's coming together really fast (it's a revamp of an old idea, I'm cheating). but now I'm stuck on whether or not I want to include a human person in it or not. the last panel has one, but it kinda works with or without??? hm

the rain smells different today, it smells like summer rain for the first time. that wet pavement smell. you don't get that in the cold months. maybe it's actually the grass taking a drink that you're smelling.

I also have to figure out how to change my laptop to "night mode" or whatever warm tint variety it offers. that hour meeting yesterday triggered my migraine brain HARD & I still feel nauseous and off this morning. I didn't consider that since I quit working I haven't interacted much with computers.
April 9, 2026 at 11:28 AM
right before I woke up I was having a dream I was in a bookstore considering a book called "Where Have All the Junos Gone?". the cover looked illustrated, I think it was a graphic novel. I'd seriously love to know what that comic was about.

screaming forever that this is a glorified party planning committee. we're just a broke ass one that has to diy everything, like being on the PTA planning dances for your kids.
April 9, 2026 at 12:17 AM
I knew agreeing to slightly more responsibility was going to make me even more bitter and annoyed, and yet I did it anyway. why do I let myself get talked into things I know are not good for my sanity.
April 8, 2026 at 10:30 PM
nothing like looking at the agenda for a meeting and getting pre-annoyed. I was so stressed over the one thing I had to do, and then look at this & y'all have gone and done some dumb shit. ready to walk into this meeting and look like the party pooper, as usual!!!
April 8, 2026 at 10:28 PM
don't freak out. you can choose not to freak out, most people get that. they're doing it wrong. you just *don't* freak out, it's easy. I don't know why people don't understand that and choose to freak out, it's simple. you just don't. why would you want to freak out? just don't do it? like, look.

my new-to-me laptop has been grounded since it got here, unable to connect to our wifi. it'll connect to a hotspot from my phone, but hates our wifi. after intense googling, & IT support from my brother, we've discovered my router is old af an sends out a "legacy" signal Windows won't read. fuck you

"i think i deserve this". I could singlehandedly take down 100 data servers with nothing but my kitten mitts, I feel SO good. the immense joy creating this comic brought me??? words fail to describe, this is absolutely the medium for me. I look forward to being weirdly obsessive about this forever.

apparently the thermostat's batteries died yesterday & it was 18° in the house when my dad got home and fixed it. I was SO focused on finishing my comic I didn't notice the heat hadn't turned on all day. like, I noticed it was cold, but I just thought it was bc I refused to put socks on tbh.
