Truly thrilling for my 12-yo self to watch this film and get my spouse to watch it for the first time!! His summary: “it was a ton of fun!”
Disney Studies VIII / Musicals, Stage and Film IV is bringing us to a close for the day. Special thanks to our Robert Osbourne for the evening Emily Hamilton-Honey (@hermioneclone.bsky.social) introducing our film and the fortuitousness of the moment. @pcaaca.bsky.social #DisneyStudies #PCAACA2026

At my conference papers, I force people to join secret societies!
Overheard at #PCAACA2026: "We cross the scorching deserts,
martini in our hands. / We ski the polar ice caps, in tuxedo looking grand. / We are reckless, brave, and loyal, and valiant to the end. / If you come in here a stranger, you will exit as a friend."

(We may be a cult now.)

It was a rad panel and I was happy to talk SEA!
Secondly: Vicky Lantz (@vplphd.bsky.social) unpacks the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (SEA), and how it plays upon colonial aesthetics that undermines critiques by making the attendees feeling belonging, avoiding thornier questions about pretty much the whole thing. #PCAACA2026 #DisneyStudies

Trump sharing an image of actor Fess Parker as "historical" probably because he can only conceptualize Parker's Disney representation of Crockett.

Anyhoo, I have an article coming out very soon on Buffalo Bill, Fess Parker, and Disney's idea of the frontier. @ijdisneystudies.bsky.social

Yes. I am right. I am seeing how Chat GPT is ruining students critical thinking and writing skills in real time. It is not the future. It is a tool designed to render the populace helpless, to make people doubt their innate intelligence, and to foster overreliance on technology.
@roxanegay.bsky.social maybe you’re right.
