From the Mournes to mountains across Ireland, I make films about the places we explore, the nights we spend there, the people we meet — and what being in the mountains quietly does to us.

The next ELEMENTS video is about walking safely in mountain heat: hydration, salts, heat exhaustion, pace and knowing when the conditions should change the plan. HEAT — Wednesday, 7pm.

Tomorrow feels like Christmas Eve...

😂

My biggest collaboration yet goes live tomorrow.

I'm ridiculously excited.

I spent ages watching these clouds.

Turns out they weren't the most interesting thing happening.

New video on Wednesday at 7pm.

Confession time. 😄

There is a mountain in the Mournes that I've spent years crossing as quickly as possible.

Never really stopped.
Never really appreciated it.
Mostly just complained about it.

This week I finally camped on it.

Turns out I may owe the mountain an apology...

New Walkwatchers video is live 🏕️

First overnight camp back in the Mournes since the fires.

Quiet camp, sunset skies, good food and a thoughtful walk through a landscape that feels a little different right now.

First overnight camp back in the Mournes since the fires.

Some hills untouched, others scarred. The place felt different.

Tent up, dinner cooked, sunset watched, misty walk out.

The fires are over, but recovery is only beginning.

It’s LIVE 🎬

Today I explored the quieter side of the Mournes — Crotlieve, Wee Roosley & Slieve Roosley.

No crowds. No obvious path. Just a brilliant day in the hills.

You sent the questions… I took them into the Mournes.

Answers, a few surprises, and a day that didn’t quite go to plan 😅

It’s your video this one 👍

Sometimes the best adventures begin beside an ordinary stone wall. Round Seefin is only 228m high—but this little mountain delivered big views, a quiet camp and a brilliant sunrise. New Walkwatchers video is live

At the end of that evening, the conversation turned to what’s next — for the channels, and for time outdoors.

It didn’t fit the main video, but it felt worth sharing.

A short piece from that moment is up now. youtu.be/uvGZcYfoHqk?...

The new video’s been out a day now — thank you to everyone who’s watched and shared thoughts.

It felt like a slightly different one to make.

If you’ve seen it, I’d love to know what landed with you.

And if not, it’ll be there when you’ve time.

A bit later than planned tonight… but we made it.

Into the mountains with Stephen Reid — a quiet wild camp, good food, and a conversation that went wherever the night took it.

Not about distance or difficulty… just time well spent in the hills.

Not every day in the mountains needs to be a big one.

Short walk. Quiet camp. Proper break after being unwell.

No big effort — just what was needed.

The Mournes were completely draped in cloud as I arrived. Not the dramatic conditions we often talk about on the channel thank goodness, just a quiet grey evening in the hills. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Strange wind during a wild camp in the Pot of Legawherry.

Gusts arriving in pulses through the night — roar, silence, then the tent getting hit again.

By morning the clouds revealed what was happening in the valley.

New Walkwatchers video out now.

Sometimes when you're hiking you look up at a place and think: "There’s something up there." That was the feeling standing in the Pot of Legawherry. Not the sheltered valley floor… But the higher ground above the cascades.

Strong winds on Slieve Binnian meant changing the plan.
No camp — but a warm meal, a quiet pause, and a safe walk down.

Mountains don’t owe us a night out.

Cold has a way of focusing the mind.
Frozen ground, sharp air, and that moment where you realise winter isn’t messing about.
These are the days that remind you why preparation matters — and why the mountains always have the final say. #wintercamping #mournemountains #freeze

Merry Christmas, Walkwatchers. December has been busy with events, work and a bout of flu, so I’ve been a bit quiet here. All well again now and can't wait to get back into the mountains with the camera.
Thanks for all the support this year — wishing you a peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year.

35mph winds straight in the face — you can feel it before you even take the first step.
There’s something strangely addictive about starting a walk when the mountain makes its intentions clear.
Cold air, low cloud, no promises… just the way I like it.

The mountains went dark faster than I expected the other night…
just me, a headtorch, and a very wild Mourne wind.

My new Walkwatchers film “Dark” is now live — a quiet, moody hike after sunset.

The Mournes heard “RAIN!!!!!!!!!”
