Stripe has four things called "key" or "secret": pk_, sk_, rk_, whsec_.

Only whsec_ verifies a webhook. Pass sk_live_ and every event fails with a signature error that never mentions the key.

Your webhook endpoint returned 200 OK.
The order never got processed.

Stripe saw the 200, so it won't retry. The customer paid and nothing happened on your side.

Most webhook bugs aren't in the signature check. They show up right after it 🧵
