I've been traveling a lot for work this year and there has emerged a clear front runner for my biggest hotel pet peeve: No in-room mini fridge. I just want to keep some waters and Diet Cokes cold, please and thank you.

I am going to win my fantasy football league this week and I have to say... defeating my children never gets old

Unless I add anymore trips to my calendar, it looks like I'll have been out of town for 52 days/nights by the end of 2026 (40 of them will have been for work trips) and will have been to 10 different states this year.

I like traveling, generally, but whew, that is a lot.

It is hot, humid, and the air quality is in the "hazardous" ranking (it was 410 when I woke up this morning) from wildfires up north. This right here is why I don't complain about Minnesota winters. I miss you snow.

A friendly reminder that shutting up is always free!
Hey, fellas, before you write that white hot take about how rape is such a tricky thing and, I mean, who can really say what happened and, you know, maybe we should not be too judgmental, I'd like to remind you that instead you can simply shut the fuck up.

I called my car insurance to update that my son is leaving for college soon & taking our old Subaru with him.

Our policy is going DOWN $135 a year as a result, which is a lovely surprise. So far the only thing where college is saving us money (but I'm curious to see my grocery bills this fall)

I'm pretty sure I saw my first loon of the season and it made my Minnesota heart so happy.

I had an incredibly mediocre red velvet cupcake today and it made me confront a hard truth about myself: I'd probably eat an actual hockey puck as long as there was enough cream cheese icing on top

New post up on my Substack about the grief and joys of parenting teens who are about to up and leave you. wendyrobinson.substack.com/p/brotato-sa...

Have children so that, one day, you too can make the transition from “mama” to “mom” to (checks notes) “brotato salad”

Sometimes I enjoy watching in real time as people try to connect with me about how to integrate AI into my work and then quickly realize that I am a deeply dedicated AI hater.

These are the 4 things AI can do well:

•Clean up your email inbox (badly)
•Give my shittiest neighbor (Alan) something to talk about at a party
•Tell a 12 yr old to kill himself
•Incinerate a school at 10:16 AM on a Tuesday

You can see why we need to base our economy around it

I am not good at puzzles but here is one of the reasons I like them: if you have a puzzle out in a communal space, everyone will stop for a little while to work on it, even teenagers

Here’s a lesson I wish more men would internalize: just because a guy is cool to you and maybe even nice to your wife/daughters doesn’t automatically make him a “good dude”. How he talks about and thinks about and votes about women he doesn’t know matters too and often says more about his character

It's snowing hard right now, with big fat flakes. I love watching it out the window and feeling like I'm living in a snow globe. I'm meant to live in Minnesota, I think.

Short track speed skating stresses me out. So much falling and I always wonder if people are going to get sliced up by someone else's skates when they accidentally take them out

Ah the particular joy of being a romance reader and discovering a new author you like and then realizing she has written like 40+ books … yesssssss…

(Also the mild embarrassment of “discovering” an author who is like one of the top/most popular in the genre. Better late than never though!)

We know it isn’t fake and we know that Trump is a vile racist.

This administration is filled with the worst people alive.

Everyone wearing MAGA gear is happily telling the world they are racists too.

I’m in the thick of Minnesota winter, where 20 degrees feels pretty manageable. I’m traveling for work this week to CA, where the temperatures are in the mid-60s and my brain is short circuiting. Like, wait, what do I wear in 65 degrees again? Am I going to be the weirdo wandering around in shorts?

Catherine O’Hara was one of those actors that was always a delight to see on the screen because she was literally good in everything. You knew you’d be entertained because watching her face was always a perfect performance.

One of my personal goals is to not mock public figures for the way their bodies (especially things they can’t control like height) but WOW my spirit is being tested by some people right now.

Focus on the evil, self, not the height…
