I was Matt+numbers back...there. No, not him. No, not her either. Yeah, the one who won't pay their nouns.

Otherwise? My bookshelves don't like me any more than my walking shoes, I read cookbooks for fun, and my trivia is more trivial than most.
When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary shines on me; speaking words of power: Fiat Lux.

Ok, perhaps I shouldn't have had that second glass of wine.

Old Staffordshire Pie, circa 1806: put a pickled calf tongue in a fowl, in a duck, in a turkey, in a goose, in a coffin, in a slow oven. Eat cold.
I can't wait for some trendoid chef to 'invent' it, just to see what he charges per piece.

The Europeans have agreed to release up to 25 million barrels of diesel and crude oil (combined) a month, for four months, to bring down diesel prices. World diesel consumption is a bit under 30 million barrels a day. Trump may want to hold off on that victory Twinkie for a bit.

I found out that a particular bottle of rum tastes better watered than straight. Fine, but I don't think "Better as grog than neat" is the ad the distiller dreams of.

The Trump regime is talking about banning the export of diesel. So what would the oil companies do if it happens? Throttle back or shut down any refineries that can't make a profit if the product has to be shipped a thousand miles overland, that's what. Supply goes down, prices go up: Econ 101.

Operation Vivaldi saw Rubicon losing to its Ukrainian opposite numbers in a drone battle. Now Rubicon is well equipped and supplied because Putin said so, and the opposite numbers are well equipped and supplied because they're effective in combat; so I wasn't shocked by the result.

"And hast thou slain the jabberwock?
They're out of season, my dear boy.
Oh, deary me; a fine they'll be!"
But somehow, it was waived.

Just a reminder: the original Vim! factory burned down in 2026. So double check your alibis.

I always suspected as much.

One hears that Trump intends to sign the latest anti-Russian sanctions bill. And he'll use it the day after he releases all of the Epstein files, unredacted, to the Democrats in Congress and blue state prosecutors. Otherwise his Dom, Vlad, would get mad.

It seems the entirely Trump run Republican National Committee is desperately trying to get Republican politicians to stop marginalizing and ignoring Trump in their campaigns; openly telling them to stop doing this in simple declarative sentences.

So it seems that the market is pricing Federal paper about 1.25% above what it was a year ago, compared to the actual Federal rate. Inflation? Pshaw...

I find myself wondering how much of the food and medical supplies used by the Russian Army came through a Wildberries or Ozon, as part of Putin's scheme to steal as much materiel from the soldiers and their families as possible. Because that got a lot harder to do recently.

Somehow the naval mines in the Persian Gulf have all gone away. After all, the congenitally lying cretin who leads the GOP (the party of lying cretins that made sure the US Navy is garbage at mine sweeping) has told us so.

I don't think marine underwriting firms are lining up to lower their rates.

At this rate, an American looking to visit Canada will probably need dual citizenship and an EU or Mexican passport by the end of the year.

So Trump snuck off Bribe Force 1 on a catering cart, and flew out incognito, because he's that cowardly and his winged bribe is that useless. And did his nut when this came out (both parts), and is looking for the dastardly leakers who proved again what a compleat loser he is.

And it's Tuesday.

I'm just as corny as something that's corn free,
high as a thing that's the same height as me;
and you can see if you're looking at me,
yes, I'm fond of a tautology...

Michael, Michael
Here is your answer true.
I'll not cycle
Over the world with you.
If you can't afford a carriage,
There won't be any marriage.
For I'll be switched
If I'll be hitched
On a bicycle built for two!

Regarding Wildberries: I think someone in Ukraine read The Prince, and has recalled the line 'men will sooner forgive the loss of their father than of their patrimony'. And it's not like Ukraine is getting the blame, either; too many broken promises from Putin, you know.

Between the new means to make them, and the idea that 'they have more people, so we have to rely on higher tech or we'll lose', I think we'll be seeing fully autonomous war drones sooner rather than later. Remember: necessity is the mother of solving a problem while creating more of them.

Granted that drugged out cretins out-think Trump: but watching him not only throw away the midterms, but admit he doesn't care, is a tell that he's sure there won't be any midterms worth discussing.

Things were too dull I guess; the failing economy and gathering epidemics and such like aside...

Question for the day: do Christian snakes handle Stephen Millers?

Just a quick note: if you're between Trenton, NJ and Fredricksburg, VA right now, then do less gratuitous breathing. If you're north-west of those points, then cut down on the day to day breathing as well. The Great Lakes region is like chain smoking for free.
July 17, 2026 at 11:19 AM
The air quality between the Bronx and Wilmington isn't very good (as in, people with normal lungs are being told to go inside, it's too smokey). Michigan and such like Lake Superior touching states are past the normal gauge limit dirty air, and people are being asked who told them to breathe.
