Check out this great WIRED coverage: www.wired.com/story/wikipe...

WMF US workers voted 158–14 to unionize. This was never primarily about pay or benefits, it was about having a seat at the table.

Proud of what workers built. Ready for what's next, including standing with our UK siblings. 🌍

WE DID IT ✊ WMF US workers voted 158 YES to 14 NO: 91.9% of ballots cast, with 81% turnout. We could not have done it without the solidarity of Wikimedia volunteers. We stand with our UK siblings in their recognition process now and with future organizing efforts across WMF's 🌍 workforce

“Even if every single staff member were currently being treated fairly and well by their management chain, the formation of the union is to ensure that things can stay that way even when new managers are hired or promoted, and as the tech industry changes rapidly around us.” -WMF worker

“I dream of a global union of Wikimedia workers that includes every country in which we are. A global union would be analogous to the growth of the editing communities and of Wikipedia itself these past 25 years: collective action on a global scale, to the benefit of all.” - WMF worker
