Democrats *cannot* support the Protection College Sports Act. It’s the most anti-labor coming out of this Congress. We cannot cap the mobility of black athletes, but not white coaches.

We Need to Protect College Sports from Ted Cruz
In this week’s Elie v. U.S., our justice correspondent looks at the many ways Ted Cruz’s college-sports bill threatens athletes’ labor rights. Plus: why our mail-in voting nightmare isn’t over.

This is lovely, but does anyone know if the ground game is any good to match poll results like this?

He wasn’t at the top of my list before but Ossoff is quickly moving up the ranks for being able to articulate it like this
I think it’s a very narrow path, but I think you offer voters a vision of rebuilt and reformed state capacity, i.e., look at what we can accomplish together like Zohran’s messaging in NYC. Some of that is straightforward, like, no one likes measles and that’s RFK’s fault. Show people you care.
idk how an actual opposition party would act here. the dems clearly are not fully fit for purpose, but what do you even do here. like full on revolutionary defeatism as to the entire project of state?

I made a comment about partying daggers before I saw the main gauche and as I have no other observations or criticisms, this is quite informative
... fuck, I kind of want to define a personality test around this now, actually work on defining these nine genders.
Common misconception. There are six elements of gender, of course (Rapier, Sabre, Smallsword, Cape, Buckler, Main-gauche), but this represents two sets of three that are paired with each other to define 9 Genders.

I actually want to vomit. There is nothing that can redeem this moment. We are living through a regime that is victimizing immigrants in at least as bad a way as early Nazi Germany victimized Jews. We all fucking know. We, all of us, live in the Zone of Interest.

This is a wonderful and insightful thread. The part about techbros not understanding evolution and how long it takes for life to be life is striking because many of them invest in efforts for humans to be more machine-like (particularly the endurance part).
It seems like this is a good time to tell you all why LLMs are never, and can never be, conscious.
Are AI companies being extremely irresponsible with incomplete and badly defined parameters for their LLMs? Yes!

Are they unwittingly creating Skynet? No. Grow up. Come on

Look, agentic AIs are imbued with apparent authority to act on someone's behalf, and that comes with the attendant liabilities. I don't think there's that robust a body of case law on this yet, but . . . I suspect there will be soon enough.
AI doom or not, something has shifted with AI recently. The guardrails that kept AI sitting in a chatbox are gone, the models are better, there's more compute.

AI agents are everywhere. They are annoying as hell. IMO the situation is going to get much worse
