More fun news in our department - @joshua-goodman.com kicked off the year's seminar series by sharing (in a highly entertaining talk) fascinating new work chain tutoring centers. The centers increase kids' academic achievement but widen racial gaps, since White and Asian kids see the greatest gains.

I had a great time at Williams' PIER undergraduate research conference this weekend! It was such an impressive group of young scholars, and I loved the engaged and constructive audience feedback. 10/10 will recommend to students in the future :-) @williamseconomics.bsky.social
We learned so much at PIER 2026 (our undergrad econ research conference) yesterday! We had an inspiring keynote talk by @caitlinmyers.bsky.social, a panel moderated by Raquel Jardim '27.5 & featuring Jillian Stallman '16, Helene Hall '18, & William Chen '19, + over a dozen research presentations.

Williams Economics was honored to welcome 2023 Nobel Laureate Professor Claudia Goldin (Harvard) to share her work on "Why Women Won." She shared fascinating trends and patterns, and ended by telling students, "Follow your curiosity. Don't worry about where it will take you!"
