Just got jump scared by an anti-trans anti-Sherrod Brown ad in freaking Maryland thanks to watching a baseball game. Sometimes I think getting into sports was a mistake.

Started inappropriately laughing at this stunningly vague description of the Iraq War in the museum. I wonder how many hours of meetings were devoted to saying nothing.

Went to cooking demo/history of macaroni and cheese talk at American History museum, which featured a recipe for the most delicious mac I’ve ever had plus one of my favorite type of lecture interactions (historian gets politely furious when faced with popular swill misinformation)

My mother asked this morning why the Dutch settled in NYC, and I started explaining the Dutch-Portuguese War and the 80 Year War and Caribbean agriculture and prevailing trade winds like the living embodiment of the meme of the specialist overestimating general knowledge.

Scheduled my post-baseball Glenstone Museum day. My feelings about it are very mixed because as much as I enjoy the free art and nature, I can never shake the knowledge I’m on the compound of the ultra-rich with limited cell/wifi service and might be hunted for sport at any moment.

Going to take me a bit to get used to Todd Crocker on the Leafs radio call instead of Joe Bowen.

There are larger implications to the City story, but every time I read an update I flashback to those Klopp-era Liverpool teams that lost by one point and imagine a more timely points deduction punishment and I want to wander into the woods to let out the longest primal scream imaginable.

This was unquestionably a successful season for the Nationals, who went from 66 wins and a -212 run differential to 77 wins and a +6 run differential. But it also could’ve been more, and they know it, which now fuels them heading into 2027.

A successful year that still could’ve been more
The Nationals made some major strides this season. They’re now determined to take it to the next level in 2027.

As someone who was extremely down after last year, this year was an extremely pleasant surprise. See you next year (fingers crossed) with higher expectations.

Nasty work by the computerized demon responsible for reward ticket seat assignments to assign me a seat so close to the away dugout during a Mets series.

Got the update on start time 2 minutes after I posted. Extremely pleased I don’t have to leave.
Chilling in the nosebleeds with a book but I think the weather is going to outlast my pain tolerance for sitting with my slipped disc unless the radar starts looking radically different.

#RecipeOfTheDay is Turkish Eggs (more properly, çilbir) and what a gorgeous late weekend breakfast they make! www.nigella.com/recipes/turk...
Turkish Eggs
If I hadn’t eaten the Turkish eggs at Peter Gordon’s restaurant, The Providores, I most certainly wouldn’t be tempted by the idea of poached eggs on Greek yogurt. I say that only to pre-empt any hesit...

Perfect weather, a bananas game, couldn’t enjoy it like I should’ve thanks to that transphobic homophobic asshole but I have Sunday as I do over to savor the end of the season. On a positive note, I’ve always been a “pretty crier” so the usher saw me and went “wow you like great tonight!”

FML there’s bird shit all over my seat. Cursed day.
Deleted 1st attempt because I was so mad I didn’t check for typos -I got called a “he-she dyke bitch” plus had a bunch of anti-trans BS rhetoric screamed at me on the way to the metro going to a Nats game. Fuck everyone responsible for anti-trans hate. Going to try to not let it ruin my night.

Philly Opera letting public school students attend dress rehearsals was my intro to opera so I hope the Met lotto expands interest. FYI Family Circle tix are $47 and the view is fine so if you’re within day trip radius of NYC and opera-curious it’s a (relatively) reasonable night out.

It was just cool and dreary enough today that my autumn/winter brain kicked in to inform me 7 pm is now “in bed with a good book” and not “lounging by a pool listening to the baseball game” time. Just checked the Nats score and clearly I was right to embrace autumn.

Insane that no one can be bothered to wipe the rain off the camera for the Spirit game. Just a bunch of smudges on a screen.

It always surprises me when I have a craving for a food that I won’t be able to get despite living in a 21st urban environment. Woke up really wanting a London style salt beef bagel.

I have to finish my current 1200 page book before buying another, but I just passed China Mieville’s new book displayed prominently in my neighborhood bookstore’s window and had to exercise every bit of willpower I possess to keep walking.

Got to remember people aren’t acting irrationally, they simply don’t have the exact timing between trains memorized nor do they know which car allows for quickest transfer between lines. On a related note, I shouldn’t have to pay hundreds of dollars to get a neurodivergence diagnosis.

Not going to lie, I’m kind of mad that I got robbed of a Cavalli start tonight.

Spent my entire lunch break FaceTiming Greece to discuss last night’s Phillies at Nats game with my uncles and my poor Sports-disinterested mother kept reaching for the wine.
