I remember liking Alan Wake 2 a lot, but I think this gets at the core of why Remedy stories rarely stick with me. There's a lot of pointing and going "look! It's visually inspired by Lynch!" and I'm left wondering "ok but where are the *CHARACTERS* that aren't just bits of soggy cardboard"
Think Remedy has been able to ride the kind of surface David Lynch comparisons for a surprisingly long time, but this kind of solidified for me that they are way closer to Christopher Nolan. Which is not a bad thing at all, just more elevated blockbuster than arthouse avant garde.

I DO NOT HAVE TIME TO BE STARTING WORK ON MORE ALBUM PROJECTS. I HAVE TO RELEASE THE STUFF I HAVE DONE AND I HAVE SO MUCH MORE TO MIX AND FINISH. AND YET I HAVE STARTED WORK ON A POST-HARDCORE ALBUM AND A D-BEAT/CRUST ALBUM AND MAYBE A DUB ALBUM. MY BRAIN WILL MOT SHUT UP UNTIL I MAKE EVERY ALBUM

Had a look at that Persona soundtrack bundle one of the physical edition companies is doing and boy howdy. 75 bucks for 4 *cassette tapes*.

As someone who has made and released tapes in bands before, that has to be one of the steepest fucking mark ups of all time.

Tonight's listen. Really glad I got my hands on this one. Easily their best release as far as I'm concerned

I will say with all the shite around Wolverine and the stuff I complain about with the review, there is something quite reassuring about being 11 years into this thing and still somehow being able to produce your most widely viewed work, if that makes sense

It's really nuts that not only is IGN sacking so many people, but that there's seemingly so many Big Names in there. Not that it's somehow better or whatever that other people lost their jobs of course, not remotely, but like, some of these people were The Brand! What are we doing!

Like this short, punchy blog from @jakesteinberg.substack.com. Jake does something useful here in highlighting how many reviews treat criticism like inspection, identifying problem areas and determining if the product is sound.

the horrors of the modern age are, in fact, also deeply deeply stupid

One of the reasons I've never really bought into the whole "you can never separate art and artist" thing is that Macklemore seems like a pretty cool guy

Checking comments, the Wolverine cycle has started to shift from "SONY IS SELLING US WOKE GAY TRASH" to defenders going "YOU SO-CALLED "JOURNALISTS" WERE LYING ALL ALONG. GAME IS PEAK"

Like clockwork. Can never just be "people have different tastes." Absolute children, man, swear to god

look lads. the newswire burst that Xbox CEO Asha Sharma spends "hours" responding to CS tickets - whether true or not - is low hanging corporate propaganda. throw that shit in the trash. it's an insult to your intelligence.

Booted up No Man's Sky for the first time in... five years? Was curious to see where they were at.

Absolutely rad they've stayed with it so long. The barrage of information that was hurled at me upon getting in-game made my head hurt and I have zero time to try and make sense of it all lol

I dunno! People talk about those games as it there's some obvious difference when compared to Wolverine but honestly I don't really see it!

To me those games are like people not minding a little almond in their arsenic
The difference is the severity or 'the dose'. People don't mind arsenic in Almonds.

I will say I'm surprised at just how galvanised people have been against Wolverine in particular. As I hint at in my review, I was fully expecting this to be yet another situation where I was the one fucker complaining about AAA design bollocks bc reviews are generally v kind to this exact stuff lol

Been getting a lot of messages from people congratulating me on the Wolverine view count. Comments to the tune of "finally! You've hit the big time!" or whatever.

Been doing this long enough that my main thought is "the Ace Combat video is gonna bring those metrics right back down lol"
