It’s not often I let myself go and draw from imagination, I like something I can see; angles, lines and shadows. I took a walk down Castle Street, noticing how quiet Princes Street is, reminding me of Covid lock down times. So sad to see the burnt out former Debenhams building, hopefully the front can be saved and street opened again soon.

It’s the last day of the school holidays for us and the time has flown by. It’s always odd seeing the kids go back before the festival finishes but we are chilling out at home on this last day. Pottering about and soaking up the sunshine like Misty was here on the mantelpiece.

Had a go at painting with bleach in the garden. Inspired by my daughter’s creations we had a go together painting with different dilutions to make various shades. A bit tricky as the ink takes a few minutes to fade away. Fun though, I like the results.

Sketching the Coo today at George Square, Edinburgh. Violet is back for her 20th year I was there to soak up the first night atmosphere and see a preview of a few shows. Abandoman, The Afronauts and the Palestinian Circus all stood out. So much to see this month 😊👍

Swifts, Swallows or House Martins?
I was always unable to tell which was which, until now - the best way to remember their differences? To draw each bird and note their uniqueness. When you take the time to draw something you really notice the details and take so much more in. Give it a go 👍😊
