Our MOTM is caught mid-gesture with his whole upper body doing that infuriatingly composed athlete thing. Torso upright, shoulders set broad and slightly rotated, both arms extended out in front of him with the elbows softly bent. One forearm sits almost horizontal while the other reaches higher, palms open, fingers spread, as though he is physically trying to tell everyone to calm down while possessing exactly the build least conducive to anyone doing so. And those arms. The fit of the short sleeves leave the shoulders and upper arms open to scrutiny, with the biceps and triceps visibly engaged just from holding the gesture. The taped wrist only adds to the footballer-at-work evidence file. His head turns into the movement rather than toward the camera, chin tucked slightly, so the whole thing reads focused and deliberate rather than posed. Then the kit gets involved. The shirt hangs relatively loose through the torso, but the shorts have substantially less room for diplomacy. His weight is settled through one leg while the other comes forward, which loads the thighs differently and makes the muscle structure very obvious: one quad carrying the body, the other advancing underneath him. There is nothing static about it. Even while apparently asking for calm, his lower body is still walking through the moment. Which means the Thirst Section has been presented with a man making a "steady, everyone" gesture while the shoulders, arms and thighs are submitting entirely contradictory instructions. Sir. We have just won. Nobody was steady to begin with. Nobody is steady now. And now you have raised both arms like you personally intend to relieve the cardiovascular emergency. MOTM on the pitch, MOTM in the vote, and apparently MOTM of telling WTS to calm down while actively preventing it. 🔥🔥🔥

OK, ready to post. Ended up just adding the write-in to Kieff's total and NOT showing it on the chart because then it was throwing a percentage total above 100% and I couldn't figure out how to display it without counting the vote twice, if that makes sense. Anyway. Here we go.

I'm will post the results shortly but I did want to clarify something. We had a bunch of votes for Kieffer plus a write-in for Kieffer. I added the write-in to Kieffer's total but also left the write-in displayed on the chart so y'all could see it. In other words, Kieff's total % is legit.

Six-nil. The football offered very little, so the ballot did what it had to do: Dobson, O’Hare, a ponytail, a training top, the fans, and the abyss all received due consideration. The Thirst Section has submitted its findings. 🔥👇

O’Hare found Whiteman for a blocked effort, then Ekomié crossed for Imray to shoot wide. Imray had another blocked, Whiteman tried again from distance, and O’Hare slipped Dobson into the box for yet another blocked shot. By halftime it was 2–0, but Dobson had at least put himself in the voting conversation while O’Hare was already manufacturing reasons for Thirst Section attention. Sam Smith won a free kick almost immediately after the restart, then O’Brien and O’Hare both drew fouls as Wrexham tried to get something moving. By 63’ it was 4–0. At 67’, Kaboré, Moore, Matty James and Hyam came on, with Dobson among those departing. Three Dobson votes took the lead, while George Dobson’s Ponytail collected its own vote because apparently the hair maintained composure even when the rest of us had lost ours. O’Hare kept going, winning another free kick before Whiteman had a late shot blocked. Hyam headed wide from a Whiteman corner, Moore and Kaboré won late free kicks, and almost the final action saw Vyner head down for O’Hare, whose shot was blocked. Two O’Hare votes for continuing to present himself for duty while the scoreboard became increasingly obscene feels entirely defensible. Doyle and Sam Smith each picked up a vote too. Then the write-ins took over. The Comms Team, including Mark, Mia and Andy, got votes for keeping everyone somewhat sane. I abstain chose peace. The deep abyss of pain and woe chose accuracy. Aaron James and James McClean arrived without match receipts. bubbles was emotional punctuation. The fans. For watching that mess deserved hazard pay. The Summer of ’25 was nominated like evidence in an inquiry. my self-control somehow survived. Josh Windass’ training top still generated more heat than the football. Arthur Okonkwo received a vote from another dimension entirely. Some ballots track performance. This one documented the stages of grief-induced thirst. 🔥

George Dobson's body is caught converting itself into forward momentum. His torso is pitched aggressively over the ball, chest angled down and forward while the shoulders counter-rotate around the run. One shoulder drives ahead, the other pulls back, and that twist through the upper body makes the shirt work extremely hard across his chest and upper arms. Both elbows are bent, hands loose rather than clenched, because everything above the waist is balancing what the legs are doing underneath. And the legs are doing a LOT. The hips are turned into the stride, one thigh driving forward while the trailing leg stretches long behind him, giving us that full uninterrupted line from hip through quad, knee, calf and ankle. The planted leg is visibly loaded, thigh and calf engaged to hold his weight while he keeps the ball close, and the rear calf is taut from pushing off. His centre of gravity is low and slightly forward, so the whole body reads as controlled acceleration rather than merely running. He is leaning into the next touch before the current one has quite finished. 🔥 The cruel part for the Thirst Section is that even in a match we would all happily place into a locked box and sink beneath the sea, somebody has apparently arranged for that much shoulder, chest, thigh and calf to be photographed under full athletic load. So now we have to process a 6–0 defeat while his kit is stretched across a rotating torso and both legs are making an extremely persuasive argument for the continued existence of football photography. Cardiovascularly, this is unhelpful. Emotionally, worse. Kit-survival status: shirt holding. Shorts under considerably more operational pressure. Thirst Section composure: substituted. 🔥

Thirsties, the scuba celly has arrived and it was catastrophically effective. He was caught mid-motion, body angled forward, torso pitched into the celebration, shoulders slightly rolled in, chest carried over his hips as the whole frame followed the line of that extended right arm. One hand came up to the face for the scuba detail, the other reached forward to complete the bit, and suddenly this was a full-body performance. The red shirt clung to the movement, showing the bend through the upper body and the tension in the arms and shoulders, while the rain somehow made the whole thing even more outrageous. And the lower half was working just as hard. The white shorts sat over fully engaged thighs, one leg stepping through while the other trailed behind on the toe, calves taut, balance held in that perfect split second between stride and pose. Hips drove the motion forward, knees stayed active, and the whole stance had that unmistakable footballer quality of looking loose and powerfully controlled at once. Nothing about it was static. Even frozen in a photo, you can still feel the momentum: wet turf under the boots, the follow-through of the celebration, the body still humming with adrenaline. Which means the Thirst Section was never going to survive this. The kit was already under enough pressure without adding rain, muscle engagement, and a themed celly with committed arm work. Red shirt, white shorts, thighs engaged, calves working, torso pitched forward, arms fully committed to the scuba. Result: elevated heart rate, collapsed decorum, and several Thirsties requiring immediate assistance back to baseline. Celebratory? Yes. Subtle? Absolutely not. Devastating? Beyond dispute. 🔥

Thirsties, this one was a masterclass in how little movement a man apparently needs to cause widespread administrative failure. He was caught between phases of play, body loose but ready, shoulders settled, chest open, arms hanging naturally at his sides, one leg planted forward while the other carried his weight. Nothing exaggerated, nothing posed. Just that unmistakable footballer balance where even standing still somehow looks athletic. And the black away kit was doing outrageous work. The dark shirt sharpened the line through the shoulders and torso, while the shorts left the legs to make their own extremely persuasive argument. Thighs set, calves defined, stance wide enough to show the strength underneath it all, white boots providing the final bright punctuation mark. Compact, balanced, quietly powerful. The sort of physique built for twisting away from challenges, carrying the ball, absorbing contact and then immediately demanding it again. Up top, the damp curls and slightly parted lips give the whole image that proper fully focused in-match look. It’s the combination of the black kit, the stance, the relaxed arms and that quietly composed presence that makes the picture land so hard. Just focus, athletic tension and an away kit apparently engineered in a laboratory to test the Section’s thirst emergency protocol. This was the dangerous category of thirst where absolutely nothing theatrical was happening and yet somehow everything was happening. The background may as well have ceased to exist. Our attention had already been comprehensively detained by our number 17. 🔥
