You have some queer friends Dorothy, she said. The queerness doesn't matter, so long as they're friends, was the answer. L. Frank Baum.

Near Flesh, short stories, Katherine Dunn. Loved all but one story, I wish she’d written more before her death. An Asian Minor, the true story of Ganymede, a retelling of the greek myth; and The Deformity Lover & other poems, both by Felice Picano. Both decent if somewhat short reads. Books 5, 8 & 9

Prime Minister Mark Carney signs order to rename the USA to “Dingleberry”. ‘We are of the opinion that this is a much more fitting title for the annoying pice of shit dangling from Canada’s asshole.’ #Canada #MarkCarney #trump #usa #maga

Male Luna Moth. Measuring approx. 4.5” from antennae to the elongated tails of the wings. Each wing was roughly 3”, and the wingspan would have been roughly 6”. #lunamoth

Expanding the distorted, refracted spectrum of light. (Slowly opening the old glass door through which the light from crystals in the front window was passing).

Toad, Katherine Dunn. Purchased when released but put off reading due to negative reviews claiming that none of the characters are likeable. I really enjoyed it, nearly as much as Geek Love. The story of a struggling, flawed, lonely, awkward woman. Felt a real connection to the main character. Bk6&7

Had a visitor for a bit more than a week, it went by far too fast. Our last night with Shadow. (I’m repairing the teeth on the anatomical skull, and she likes to be involved in everything)

Another slightly shorted Nereid Worm. Found at Duck Pond Beach in the Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick Canada. Near the end of the video the worm appears to get stuck under a piece of seaweed, and inflates part of its body, under the head, to free itself. #nereidworm #bayoffundy #tidalpool

Two by Dr Seuss. The Seven Lady Godivas. An adult oriented book about 7 naturist daughters, seeking horse facts. Fun-ish but lacked the whimsey of Seuss’s more childish works. Horton and the Kwuggerbug. Some stories & minimal art released posthumously. More money-grab than something essential. B3&4.

Project Lambda - Paul O’M. Welles, ‘79, & Queer Free - Alabama Birdstone, ‘81. Genocide of queer people by the religious right in the US. Lambda is well written but w straightwashed “masc” wealthy gays, Queer Free needed an editor and a rewrite but had more believable, sexual, queer characters. B1&2

Another Repair. Things went more smoothly this time, this clay is better suited to sealing cracks than sculpting. Bossons, Legend Products Chalkware. King Henry VIII. #Bossons #Chalkware #LegendProducts #KingHenrryVIII

Bossons Chalkware, titled “Syrian”. My aunt gifted me 20 of these busts. As a child her wall of heads terrified & excited me.
Many are chipped. Not perfect repair, the air dry clay shrinks considerably but with some wood glue and acrylic paint it will do for displaying them. #Bossons #Chalkware

Notes from a Marriage, by Gavin Geoffrey Dillard. So-so. Read in less than half an hour. Photos are mediocre, poems meander and had me wanting to be finished with it sooner. Written in 1983 and rereleased for some unknown reason. Thankfully inexpensive. Book 25 and last one for the year.

Last Summer at Bluefish Cove by Jane Chambers.
A great play.
Close-knit group of lesbian friends are surprised to find that a recently divorced straight woman has rented a cabins in their usual summer vacation spot. Together they face insecurities, jealousy, preconceived notions, & cancer. Book 24

“Can you Imagine, the Art and Life of Yoko Ono” by Lisa Tolin artwork by Yas Imamura & “Ono-isms” by Yoko Ono edited by Larry Warsh. Can you Imagine was charming, simple & pure with beautiful art. Ono-isms should have been better, there are hundreds of far more interesting Yoko quotes. Books 22 & 23

“Moritz” Bob Herron “Slashed to Ribbons in Defense of Love and other stories” Felice Picano. Queer books from ‘82. Nostalgic for another time. Moritz a light hearted sex comedy about a big dicked country boy moving to NY. Slashed to Ribbons a variety of tales some dark, some emotional. Books 20 & 21

The Official Sex Manual by Gerald Sussman nearly broke my brain. I had expected a prim & sterile book written in 1965, not a sex guide for an unknown life form. Part of me thought it was a modern hoax made to look like an older book. It makes sense only when you consider hallucinogenics. Book 19.

The Normal Heart and Destiny of Me - Larry Kramer, Poems for Lost and Un-Lost boys - Michael Lassell. Plays and poetry on gay life in the 80s/AIDS. Loved the Normal Heart, I’ll look up the film. Turns out poetry may not be for me, I was lost and drifted durning most of Lassell’s. Books 16, 17 & 18.

“Mona of the Manor” was enjoyable, last book in the Tales of the City series. “Misadventures in the (213)” tried so hard to be in the same vein as Tales of the... It suffers from dull humour, bad writing, pomp & racism. Jam packed with a list of celebrity names no one cares/ed about. Books 14 & 15.
