Applications and insights of NMR in enzyme engineering and biocatalysis
In order to be used in biocatalysis, natural or de novo enzymes must be engineered to function under the desired reaction conditions. Rational enzyme design draws on experimental data such as struc...

Breaking News: Anthropic said it halted potential plots by scientists who used its A.I. models to do research that could have helped develop biological weapons.
Anthropic Says It Blocked Possible Efforts to Build Biological Weapons
In a new report, the A.I. start-up added that it could not determine if the research was legitimate or nefarious, leading the company to shut down the work.

She was very quiet. I never knew of her, although Los Alamos is a small town. Another example of a woman ignored by history.
Her work was key to a landmark experiment. She was credited in a footnote.
Mary Tsingou Menzel, who has died at 97, played a central role in a Los Alamos physics experiment. A half-century later, she finally got her due.

We can design "static" binders routinely now, but design of "dynamic" shape-changing proteins has remained quite hard. Jeffrey Chang and I asked: why can't we couple small-molecule binding to shape change? After all, natural proteins do it every day. In a new preprint, we show how it can be done. 🧵
