People are dunking on this, which fair enough, but it’s also not even true.
Dragging this into the light...in light of Brazil.

One of these years I’ll get back up to Hawk Mountain for the fall migration. Grew up like 20 miles from there and didn’t appreciate it

Off the top of my head: food, beer, affordable wine, gas mileage, gas (they used to put lead in it!), most home appliances, bike infrastructure, crime rates, accessibility of leisure activities, accessibility of technology (both economically and in the a11y sense), plumbing, medicine, clothes…
Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Last chance to get in on vinyl Santa. Last year was my first and I had an absolute blast shopping for stuff I wouldn’t usually shop for. And getting a surprise box was an absolute delight
This will be our 10 year anniversary (established 2016). The landscape has changed a lot over the years and for various reasons (e.g. difficulty finding good stuff within budget as prices shoot up; reduced interaction on social media, etc) we have decided this will be the last year for #VinylSanta.

State DOTs control most of the deadliest city streets (including this one in Memphis), but they won’t fix them bc they don’t want to constrain speed or vehicle throughput.

The funding issue is bogus IMO. State DOTs always find $$ for favored roadway expansions. Urban safety just isn’t a priority.
Every big paper has run a story like this in recent years. Why nothing changes:

“The state can’t add more crosswalks, reduce the number of lanes or lower the speed limit on Union Avenue, all of which would take time and money,“ said the state DOT, which owns the road.
