Google finally updated some of its satellite images of Gaza and my god, it's horrific. The entirety of Rafah has been demolished. The majority of Khan Younis is in ruins. Entire towns completely leveled and erased of the map.

Holiday Homes are Theft

If we cared so much about rural Ireland why are we letting some coastal communities die so wealthy people can own a spare home

@robosullivan.bsky.social summed it up when he said "All I see is the missing people"

This brilliant lady wrote this out in her back garden. She’s on the flight path for Air-force 1 into Shannon. I’m also on the flight path but unfortunately not for the 747’s. Ireland hates that fucking useless lying heap of shit.

And next in this evening’s entertainment
Don't forget that the Perseid meteor shower peaks tonight! It's one of the best of the year, with maybe 50 per hour visible. I wrote all about how to watch it for the 2023 shower; the basics still all apply.

Here’s footage of the eclipse as it reached its peak in Ireland, captured by Murray near the Shannon.

Up to 98% obscuration of the Sun was predicted in the southwest, while Dublin was expected to see around 94%. jrnl.ie/7128623

Today is the 90th anniversary of the execution of Roger Casement

What is less well known about Casement is that he was an occasional poet.

Sharing, not because it's a great poem, but to acknowlede the colonial strategy of language erasure
