I want something clear:
I have never said "I will never vote for a Democrat"

My vote is winnable. My demands have never been unreasonable. If they seem so, that says more about your ethics than mine. These things amount to a minimum standard of human rights.
In no particular order:

Absolutely. It’s very tempting to blame 50% of the public as “too lazy to vote” but I keep begging the question WHY do 50% of the public feel so disconnected from the politicians who claim to serve them? Why no trust at all? That 50% is an indictment of our whole system, not the “lazy” voters.

Vote shaming is a concious choice to blame the people with the least power for the decisions of those with power. Simple as.

That's where I've been for a while. We can't even reach questions about the death penalty itself because we fail essential predicates such as "fair and consistent criminal justice system" and "reliable death penalty verdicts that leave no reasonable doubt" and, as shown tonight, "humane execution."
there are moral arguments against the death penalty in its ideal form but in real life you never need to get there. the prior question is "can the state be trusted to end the life only of the rightly convicted without torture?" and the answer is no
two doses of lethal drugs and still alive. heartbreaking and barbaric

Maybe Talarico should try to lock down the votes of his own base by supporting trans rights, because it sure looks like giving the fascists any credit will drive votes towards them, not away
John Oliver: “The Times had a panel this week of Trump voters who were undecided in this race, and when they were asked to describe Paxton, their answers were: Crook, criminal crook, crooked, bad, amoral, disgusting, morally corrupt, disgusting, corrupt, and womanizer crook.”

Not only is waving away impeachment/investigations for Trump's crimes the wrong thing morally and structurally, it is also telling people their opinion doesn't matter. The public hates Trump and is about to elect a bunch of Dems, and Dems are responding, "we aren't going to do anything with this."

We don't have an opposition party, we have a vichy party. We have a liberal party

Hey Liberals, when has appeasement of fascists ever worked? Can you give me a single example where fascists stopped from anything other than being forced? I'm serious, name a single time it has happened

I keep running into the same problem: I don’t know how to convince the average American that this kind of symbolism isn’t enough, and that it can actually be manipulative by creating the feeling that something meaningful has been done when nothing has materially changed.

I have a similar problem: I don't know how to convince the people of my home country that if politicians can see 3 years of genocide and still condemn the resistance before or after condemning the perpetrators - they are not going to save you from fascists.

Hey I think your rights are exactly as important as you think trans rights are, and will do exactly as much to defend your rights as you are willing to defend Trans rights. If you feel threatened by that, thats a you problem
