Short note since some users saw admonitions don't appear to work with Pandoc: Zettlr is happy about keywords in lowercase and UPPERCASE, Pandoc still requires the latter.

A fix is already in the pipeline, but hasn't been released yet. Until then, use UPPERCASE to have exports work as expected.

Heads up!

Are you using Ubuntu 17.04 or macOS 12 (Monterey)?

Then the next-next update (not the coming one) will NOT work on your computer.

Should you be using an old OS, make sure to update it to be able to use Zettlr AFTER the next version!

After working around an odd bug of GitHub that their team has been unable to fix for more than a week, the Zettlr update API should now finally find the 4.7.0 update.

To update, you can now check for updates from your app again, and Zettlr will offer you to update to 4.7.0.
August 2, 2026 at 12:46 PM
Apparently there seems to be an issue with the GitHub API, which prevents the internal updater of Zettlr to show the new 4.7.0 update.

Until that is fixed, you can just download the corresponding installer from the release page directly and install it manually.

Sorry!

Some of you may have experienced issues with Zettlr's citation key autocomplete stopping to work after the 8.0.3 Zotero update.

While we don't know why it happened, we know what happened: Some citation items in the CSL JSON export are missing a citekey, and Zettlr just assumed tha they do.
+++ PSA: Zotero, BBT, Zettlr, and the search for the missing citekeys +++

TL;DR: For some reason, when you export (part of) your Zotero library with BetterBibTex, some items may lack a citation key. This appears to affect Zotero 8.0.0 and upwards, maybe just 8.0.3 and upwards.
