Here's what I'm up to these days. SO EXCITED to write this book and talk about how the history of positive thinking in wellness impacts us all. Grateful for my agent @babedylan.bsky.social and my new editor Maria, who rocks.

I can't express to you how important, exciting, and actually interesting to read this is. If you know people who use the internet and think, I'd say you'd be negligent to ignore it.

The Post-Structuralist Diaries: a witty rom-com about a middle-aged woman who's ready to settle into a life of Althusserian pessimism when she reads the late work of Michel Foucault and begins asking how WE shape the institutions.

Among things to be grateful for: opportunities to engage with international graduate students on my campus and around the world. I can't wait to head to Germany to meet new scholars of literary realism.
What if this is the beginning, not the end?

HUGE thanks to @sophiastewart.bsky.social for including my book Avidly Reads Guilty Pleasures @nyupress.bsky.social in this "Wake Up Your Brain" round-up for fall reading @theatlantic.com -- a good read itself if you're struggling with the transition from sexy hockey to The Odyssey . . .

Childhood, IMHO, is for reading books in beanbag chairs.
Technology being everywhere doesn’t mean it belongs everywhere. The tech industry wants us to believe that AI in early education is not only inevitable, but necessary. We don't see it that way. This week, we announced a moratorium on generative AI for public school students in 2-K to 8th grade.

I had the pleasure of teaching these women 19th-Century American Women Writers. Few made it to the finish line. College is hard and prison is brutal. But these women did receive their BAs, and everyone who participated (especially me) got the lesson of a lifetime.
Six students at a Lusk prison graduated with University of Wyoming bachelor’s degrees earlier this month. They were the first group to reach this milestone under a program that offers higher education to incarcerated people.

Unpopular opinion: people in the nineteenth century read more, so they wrote better.
Sometimes you read an article in the Atlantic from, like, 1876 and it's just mind blowing how good and accessible and *alive* the prose is.
