Hello Seattle folk, I have just moved to this wonderful city and hoping to beat the freeze - if any of you are cool and want to have a chat, drink, or do whatever you think is fun round here please say hello 👋

It appears in my absence I have gained some traction. I've been busy moving to Seattle over the last two months - if you're looking for more Ivory Tower content there's a bunch on the Imbrium YouTube page including a cinematic and devblog :)

The Steam page for my next project: What Lies Within The Ivory Tower is live. The game has officially entered an alpha stage. Here's some images from the game and intro cinematic, with some fantastic assistance by @brickwork.bsky.social on the ship!

Tell me, if you can; Do you know of What Lies Within the Ivory Tower?

If I spun you such a tale, would you - could you - even beggar such belief?

Now that my hands are wringed of working for Epic, I have to really say that company has lost all vision and direction. A once bastion of exciting and cool projects is now beholden to a slowly dying billion dollar product and is latching itself parasitically onto a soon-to-pop disaster.

Getting ready to drop the Steam page and pre-alpha DevBlog for Ivory Tower in the next month. In the meantime, here's a few images from various environments in the game I've been building.

📸The depth of the Minerva Complex's mining operations go deep into Titan's surface. Let's just hope you have a map.

I opened up a scene I made in 2017 and got distracted for 10 or so minutes relighting it using modern tools (UE4 -> UE5) I'm impressed how well a 10 year old scene holds up.

I believe community is important across all aspects of life. Which means I'm grateful for Epic for allowing me to host an Indie Dev night at our studio, where 8 up-and-coming titles got to show off their game to everyone. It was a huge success and I'm ever thankful for everyone who helped out!

As someone who likes making "realistic" graphics I think it's disingenuous to snub realistic graphics by default. They have their place, they can be done right and done well. The fact Alan Wake 2 wont best art direction is proof of that. It's all about intention, and DLSS5 has no intent.

Going through some old images and found a few progress shots of the final area in Project Hailstorm. Collated them into a gif to show how far blockouts come, and how rough a concept can be, and how early an idea can be cemented.

My personal take on the state of modern tech: We no longer have Sci+Fi art that strives for the optimism and potential greatness of the future.
