#TBT to 2019: the Blue Party is finished, the German #ultraright is no longer divided for the first time in years #Germany.
Frauke Petry's Blue Party is over - kai arzheimer
The bigger story here is that for the first time since the 1960s, the German radical/extreme right vote is united. That is one scary perspective.

A large public university built this as their largest, poshest auditorium. In the 21st century, in one of the most secular parts of a rapidly secularising country. I'm sure there's a minor research paper in this #AcademicChatter

The absolute worst thing about Germany is Germans moaning (mostly about Germany and about moaners)

This is a very interesting experiment, but the framing is burying the lede: there's a strong anti-Muslim bias, and beyond that, nothing else matters much
Europeans do not support stricter conditions for family reunification
Family reunification visas in Europe increasingly have strict conditions attached. Yet new research suggests these restrictions have limited public support.

On day 1 of our international conference in Leipzig, the keynote by @kai-arzheimer.com illuminated the transnationalism of the AfD; subsequent panels explored European chapters of the KKK after WW2, transatlantic ties of the German far-right & transformations of the French far-right electorate.

Neat! I had not seen this before, but it reminds me of research from the US showing that Democratic respondents seem to become less religious when Christianity becomes associated with the Republicans/MAGA. At the end of the day, it's all politics 🙃
