Good listen again guys and you summarise all my frustrations . Assuming Renee must have the final say on transfers begs the question as to why she then develops issues with them. She never played Nighswonger last season and has now decided to ditch Hinds, Cerci and Reuteler.This needs challenging 🤔

Agree Tim we are starting games well until it all goes wrong when subs made/game plan goes out the window .My question is are those who scout the opposition and set our initial game plan different to those involved on matchdays who don’t seem to see/react to changing game scenarios ? Why is that ?

I agree Tim and yesterday was a good example of it. I think Jeglerdz responded to our good start with substitutions and tactical changes and changed their game plan .I don't think we worked out tactically how to counter this and instead reacted by purely throwing on random subs without a game plan?

Her own post match comments summarise her main weakness “I think you saw some fatigue in both teams coming in. So they made three changes, and I think they got immediate effect with the shot from the edge.” So City initiated decisive subs but we chucked on random players and hoped for the best

suggestions for starters is decide if Russo or Blackstenius is your no 9 and then stick with it as shifting Russo to the 10 randomly just doesn’t work and only causes confusion. Also Caldentey is not a winger but Smith is so why complicate things ? Finally Ford should be nowhere near this team

Sadky IMO Renees in the last chance saloon now. Being here, aligned, full of energy, caring for the club are not the success criteria’s for a club like Arsenal - she needs to quickly deliver concise analysis of what is going wrong and how she’s going to fix it and not just say meaningless words.

Interesting selection and good to have continuity despite Smith who’s one of our best players not getting a start but I’m sure she’ll come on.
I also think Borbe is a good call in that she dominates her box on crosses which we will need against this City attack - not sure why but I feel confident 🤞

Don’t ask me why, especially after the start to the season we’ve made, but I’ve got a feeling we’re going to surprise a lot of of people and win against Citeh tomorrow 🤔

I don't know what Renee is trying to say here - what does she actually mean by " it was important to connect with the players" - it's meaningless words unless she gives context. I'd have been happier if she told us locked them in the changing room and had sharp words about defending counter attacks

One question -you say you dont go easy on the manager simply to maintain access but how does it work with the players. Presumably they are across social media and see your postings and peoples comments about them. Does this cause cause problems when you interview them?

not only was it oK for Renee to be angry she absolutely had to show up and be angry to send a message to the players. They said they knew Paris were a good counter attacking team in which case how did they allow that first goal to be conceded. She had to call them out on it as Arteta would have done

I’m sorry but that’s entirely unacceptable from Renee and in my view indicative of her not being up to the job at a club like Arsenal. You can’t hide no matter the circumstances. 😡

Top analysis as always guys. as you allude to there seems no doubt we have retained/ signed players who Renee doesn't rate. my biggest problem with that is her accepting that on the back of her long term contract. if she didn't dig in against this now she is not the right person for the job imo.

If Renée wants to take as much as possible away from the players perhaps she should do so by acknowledging her team selections and substitutions are part of the problem. I just don’t get why Lotte is not starting and why Ford is coming on ahead of Smith for starters 😡

I've obviously not seen her play CB but I personally would not have signed de Almeida but used Holmberg for CB cover as imo she has real pace, power and height which I feel we lack at the back 🤔

Good read Jamie and I agree. Especially the concern that the recruitment team and manager don’t seem to be aligned in the squad they are building.
I don’t think we should be playing Russo in the 10 and if they don’t think anyone else is good enough then why didn’t we buy better in the summer?

this was good therapy for me Tim. I was gobsmacked to see Cerci left out and I was so cross at the end of the game I walked out without applauding the team. On the way home I felt guilty about that. However Jamie has pretty much summarised my exact thoughts so I’ve decided it was justified - thanks

I don’t get the de Almedia signing either as she doesn’t tick the boxes on what our squad needed. Also dont agree with the 3 year contract as this will imo impinge on Katie Reids development who has got the attributes when fit to be a ceiling raiser ? Is there something going on that we don’t know ?

Always amuses me when fans get mad their club “misses out” on signing a player they’ve never heard of and never seen play and seem to think they know better than clubs that have probably been watching and assessing those same players for months 🤔

Yep I agree Tim. A forward addition to the squad would have made the window better but not at the prices being quoted. We’ve been burnt too much in the past being stuck with expensive players who we brought in on silly wages who then didn’t deliver and couldn’t move on 🤔
