I said this in a NY Times story last week about the WA millionaire tax, but let’s bring back shame. Even if billionaires don’t know it’s wrong to do shit like this, they should know it’s embarrassing.
Google co-founder Sergey Brin has now spent $100 million to fight California’s proposed billionaire tax—he could owe $13 billion if he loses | Fortune
The state’s ultrawealthy, including Larry Page and Peter Thiel, have similarly donated to efforts opposing the wealth tax.

The facts are shocking enough, but the bigger reason that the Cornell gang-rape case has broken through is that everyday Americans are sick of the rich and powerful and their sons getting away with it

Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

We are paying CNN and MS NOW to run ads for Donald Trump right before the midterms. You and I are paying for them. And CNN and MS NOW are taking the cash while their hosts and guests say the scheme is illegal. That is the current state of corporate media in America.

I guess we now why Russ Vought is stealing 810 million dollars: you gotta pay for those expensive ads.
Now would be a good time for @pallone.house.gov to send Fox a letter promising an investigation into why they accepted this ad and how much they got paid to run it.

There is a reason that expert committees of scientists review and give recommendations for funding.

No one person can know all of it.

Trump says he's also looking at banning the Washington Post, calling it a "crummy paper" and "disgusting."

Anyway, good job, Jeff Bezos! It obviously was worth losing all those scubsribers and turning your opinion section into MAGA-lite, only for the president to continue to call you "fake news."

Extremely important story. Predictive policing is a euphemistic way of saying DHS is doing pre-crime, because of its improper access to your data. As @jakelaperruque.bsky.social says here, this takes a sledgehammer to the concept of probable cause of the commission of a crime. It can’t be reformed.
