Been another real disappointing week in men.
One of those nights where I know I have the best job in the world (for me) & that it is a gift to do something that helps bring joy and music into the world.
I've been touring for nearly 15 years now & I feel just as lucky & in awe that this is my career as when I first got in a band van.

It's so easy to forget that people, even elected officials, can at any moment simply choose to do the right thing.
Absolutely nothing is stopping John Cornyn, Tillis, Murkowski, & Paul from caucusing immediately with Democrats & giving them control of the Senate. The same is true of Thomas Massie & any 2 retiring GOP Reps in the House. It is a choice to continue caucusing with the authoritarian personality cult.

I stood in line for tickets w/ my Dad at Tower Records. I danced under the Space Needle to Fire on the Mountain. It changed the entire course of my life. After this day, I dreamt of going on tour - little did I know it would be as a crew person, not a Deadhead.

Never sure if I should be horrified or flattered when EMT's / ER Docs / Attendings ask what part of health care I work in. My career? Oh no. It's just the trauma of loving ill people in America & having to sound like a PhD to be believed in medical settings as a woman.

the human brain is a fascinating, terrifying thing. my beloved dad has been in the hospital for over a week. he doesn't remember most of the last week - but he daily remembers listening to Dolly Parton's

In the last week my mother was diagnosed with metastatic cancer and my father has been hospitalized with severe delirium - which has not improved for five days. It has been like being hit with a firehose of my worst fears all at once. And it's not getting better.

My stereo shuffle is an emotional terrorist - on the way to a scary medical procedure for my Mom it played "Helplessly Hoping" by CSNY, "Brokedown Palace" by The Grateful Dead, and "Summer's End" by John Prine. 1-2-3 punch of devastation.

3 years ago I went to the hospital w/ a fever & minor abdominal pain & was admitted for sepsis from a perforated bowel. The pain was no worse than any period I had to go to school or work with. Women downplay health concerns to themselves because they are not believed in clinical settings.
