I keep getting emails talking about future proofing that are all centered around adopting and integrating artificial intelligence.
Who and for what purpose are we securing the library for the future if AI is the answer?

I am fascinated (by way of being annoyed) at how unnecessarily stressful it is to provide or expect inclusive catering/food at meetings and events. I’m at the point where a better way would include just telling me the menu and make it not weird if I don’t partake. It’s something about choices.

I imagine a near future where it’s obvious and accepted that Long Covid has affected more people than expected but that the experience will focus on issues like treatment and accommodation (not bad) and not any reconciliation or lessons and institutional efforts for how to avoid a similar situation.

I have been told I am “obsessed with Covid”. Accused of it, even. But I just don’t feel that way. It is the lens through which I think about lots of things because it’s something we’re experiencing and it’s basically connected to everything. I do feel like I’m kinda “obsessed” with viruses, though.

Just refamiliarized myself with the term “vaporware” and while I don’t really have an immediate use for the term myself (surprisingly), I am glad to have it back in my vocabulary.

It’s really hard not to have the view that traditional British publishing is happy to have the bestseller headlines from comics, happy to see the sales figures from them, happy to see them boost reading for pleasure, but not happy to invest in them.

The reason that the Harry Potter apologists won't just read better books is because they're not looking for good stories...if they were, they wouldn't have glommed on to Harry Potter. They're looking for the camaraderie and social phenomenon that Harry Potter was in the 2000s.

We cant expect something called a cloud to be everlasting. Also, considering no database of Black writings/articles exist atm its gonna be up to us to maintain our own creations in our own way & not rely on corpo entities to do these things.
