once at a trader joe's i was right next to a black guy who had a some medical issue and passed out hard on the floor. i called 911, cops showed up before paramedics, and when the guy started coming to and trying to stand up the cops told him to stay down or they'd tase him.
My formative interaction with police was during my first months in New York, when I lived in Queens. A roommate was ODing and I, in my ignorance, instinctively looked for a cop. I ran outside and saw one standing on the corner. I explained the situation.
"Well," replied the cop, "she's an adult."
"Well," replied the cop, "she's an adult."
When our car was stolen out of our driveway in the pandemic summer of 2020, the sum total police response was for a cop to enter our house unmasked, shrug that the car would likely turn up somewhere (it was not) and, upon examining my spouse’s expired license, telling him he could arrest him for it.

i think the real focus on AI should be that it's a means to privatize all human knowledge and interaction. the only way a technology that requires ingesting every work of human creativity to barely function should be allowed is if it were publicly owned and controlled.
