Hoy en el #DíaMundialdeConcienciación sobre la accesibilidad queríamos recordar la importancia de hacer contenidos más accesibles, y compartir algunos consejos para que esto sea posible.

Pequeños detalles marcan la diferencia y nos permiten crear espacios más inclusivos.

El tercer jueves del mes de mayo se celebra el Día Mundial de Concienciación sobre la Accesibilidad y desde el Grupo de Trabajo en Diversidad e Igualdad queremos hablar de ello. ¿Por qué es importante? Las personas con dificultades auditivas pueden requerir subtítulos para poder seguir el contenido de un vídeo, y las que tienen problemas visuales pueden necesitar lectores de pantalla o herramientas de ampliación. Los programas de «lectura fácil» pueden beneficiar tanto a los usuarios con dificultades de aprendizaje como a aquellos que acceden al contenido en un idioma que no es el suyo. Las funciones de accesibilidad tienen impacto en toda la sociedad y benefician a todos los usuarios, no solo a aquellos con necesidades específicas para el acceso. La mejora de la accesibilidad puede hacerse efectiva a través de 4 aspectos: 1. Aspectos visuales El contraste del texto es fundamental. Deben evitarse, por ejemplo, letras de colores claros sobre fondos claros. Otro problema de accesibilidad frecuente relacionado con el aspecto visual es no dotar las imágenes con un texto alternativo, en el que se describen brevemente las fotografías que se muestran para personas con problemas de visión. 2. Aspectos auditivos Para mejorar la accesibilidad para personas con problemas auditivos es útil añadir descripciones escritas de las figuras más esenciales que presentamos, de forma que las interpretaciones fundamentales no se transmitan solamente “de viva voz”. 3. Navegación web Para que una página web sea navegable las secciones deben estar ordenadas de forma lógica. Además, para que la página de tu congreso, simposio o actividad sea accesible para personas con dificultades motoras, se debería poder activar el botón de registro con la acción “Enter” o la barra espaciadora, sin que sea necesario el uso de ratón o el panel táctil. 4. Lenguaje La información clara y directa que evita la jerga complicada siempre es más eficaz para transmitir un mensaje de forma inequívoca.
