An incredible article about the wildfire situation that was recommended on X by two fire chiefs I deeply respect and we all should listen to, Bobby Garcia and Kim Zagaris. California is lucky to have them both. Can we listen to what they and others are saying?

America is losing its war against wildfire
Wildland firefighting is increasingly facing an intractable reality: We’re stuck in a vicious cycle. A doom loop.

Obligatory fuck rep Tom McClintock for saying wildland firefighters are unskilled and don’t deserve pay increases! Thankfully & other beneficial measures were passed despite him. Lotta hard work from Grassroots Wildland Firefighters, @nffe.bsky.social, @nffe-fsc.bsky.social + more to get them!
"Skilled" vs "unskilled" work is a lie.

It doesn't matter what the job is, it shouldn't be possible to spend most of your waking hours working and still not make enough money to live.

The NBA has come down hard on the LA Clippers as it finally announced the results of its investigation into the organization and its star, Kawhi Leonard.

The Clippers will lose five first-round picks and are being fined $30 million.

I lived away (and had for about 10 years) but the twin cities were always home - both my and my wife’s siblings never left. It was brutal to see all the news, hear all of the stories from friends/family, and have to be 1000 miles away while it was ongoing. It still doesn’t feel real.
i remember when it was a happening i had the thought multiple times that i should keep a journal so i could remember what it was like to be in it, but i always felt to burnt out. now i wish i had because i find myself struggling to remember just how bad the day to day was
When the story of Metro Surge is told in media, don't for a moment, through the outpouring of solidarity and community building, despite the heroism, forget that it sucked ass every single day and some days it was like the sun had been blocked from the world

Let me recap: the MPD is 30 million over budget, helped Lang plan his riot, set up barricades for him, let him drive multiple vehicles into a crowded area, one of the cop had their foot run over, and now we can’t press charges because the cops are in on it in the first place.
Citing “extensive evidence of communication and logistical coordination between the Minneapolis Police Department and Lang’s security detail,” prosecutors will not press felony riot charges against white supremacist provocateur Edward Jacob “Jake” Lang for his latest hate rally in Minneapolis.

Honestly took me less than 2 min. Further road development in our forests will absolutely not help reduce fire risk nor will it help firefighter safety.
The Trump Administration just opened a 33-day comment period on the rescission of the Roadless Area Conservation Rule.

You can take just 2 minutes to submit a unique public comment opposing the rescission using our “mad lib” 👇
