My father, mining engineer, said in the mid 50s that coal was dying. Thatcher deliberately took on this group, with a powerful union, working in a dying industry. She knew the NUM could be beaten. And so it proved. Kill the NUM, the rest would follow. Killing coal was weaponised to kill Unions.

In the 90s we visited Ephesus in Turkey. The weekend before Sting had played in the amphitheatre. Loud amplification had loosened some stones. Tourists were prevented from going in as too dangerous.
Never forgiven him for that.

Moles generally indicate good soil health. Also the spoil from their hills makes excellent potting soil.
