Sorry to be Mr pedantic, but apart from some very very very specialised exceptions all metals are crystalline though.

I went there without a ticket and managed to buy a spare off some lads outside the turnstiles - luckily in the posh seats under cover, with a good view of the mudslide.

In Jan 1959 I trudged off with my brother to start my second term at school. When we got there it was on fire. We sat on the wall at the end of the playground and watched it burn down. Fire engines & everything. Teachers told us to go home. I kind of knew then it would never get better than this.

When I was about 10 I remember my Dad saying "well done" to a waitress in Switzerland. I later realised that he was ordering my steak (typical - he never asked me about what I wanted, but that's another book) but at the time I thought he was complimenting her on taking our order in English. 🫢
