Fairbanks Airport at 8am AKST Sunday 41F (+5.0C). This is a new record high temperature for January 12, breaking the previous record of 39F (+3.9C) in 1984. January record is 52F (11.1C) set in 2009. #akwx #Climate @themattphelps.bsky.social @leahwrenn.bsky.social

Arctic lands (north of 60ºN) just finished up with the mildest December on record. Here is the climate stripes version of monthly temperatures since 1940 from ERA5. It's as if something has changed in the 21st century. #Arctic #ClimateChange H/T @zacklabe.com @climatologist49.bsky.social
