Everyone in this small circle of the internet may "hate" me, but the logical fallacies I keep pointing out (learned in college and law school btw) are simply poor argumentation because people would rather be offended by the idea rather than engage the argument with logical reasoning.

Platner still has never been accused of rape so idk wtf you’re talking about? Straw man again. You’re full of logical fallacies, go back to school please and thank you.

Straw man argument. Good one.

You can’t hold a dead person accountable, they’re literally gone from this mortal plane!

If he did it, that was wrong and he should’ve faced consequences, but we can’t know if he did because he can’t defend himself!

And so many “progressive” women hide their misandry behind “feminism” when what they actually prefer is female chauvinism. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Workplace harassment is wrong.

The guy is obviously no saint, but if he is caucusing with Dems and will vote to not bomb Iranian schoolgirls I prefer him over Collins.

Ad hominem attacks mean you’ve lost the argument

Have a good life, bisexual hunter biden!

Where did I say it was okay that he did that?

I know reading comprehension is hard, but that is not what I said.

The general point is that politicians usually are bad people, but we need to vote for the people on the ballot that can win to effect policies that improve lives.

Oh, fun update, turns out the source of the latest Platner news from the NY times is a professional Republican operative. Interesting.
June 5, 2026 at 12:32 AM
Still holds a 5 point lead 🤷🏻‍♂️

American politics is almost always a choice between the lesser of two evils. Until we pick a different system (lol) we deal with what we have and vote accordingly.

“Preponderance of the evidence” for Chavez is one article in a paper owned and operated by those with a vested interest in denigrating labor leaders. A 30 year dead guy is an easy target.

Guess you’re more interested in having senators that approve of drone striking girls elementary schools 🤷🏻‍♂️
June 4, 2026 at 11:35 PM
Platner hasn’t been accused as a rapist. Chavez was thirty years dead and nothing has been proven beyond allegations.

Law school teaches the axiom innocent until proven guilty, I ascribe to that.

You probably thought the duke lacrosse team raped that woman too.

Yes, I have critical thinking skills and understand realpolitik, it’s seemingly lacking amongst the Bluesky hoi polloi
June 4, 2026 at 11:12 PM
I mean, we do, they are all just dog shit and ran by capital co-opted political consultants (DSCC, Maine DNC and national DNC)
June 4, 2026 at 11:04 PM
We should be “allowing” people that win votes so that 300 million American lives can materially improve.

Based on your pfp you “support” crack smoking, fucking widowed sister in laws and engaging sex workers if you support their politics. I’m only “excusing” sexting and crass language.Glass houses?
June 4, 2026 at 10:58 PM
Agreed, but it wasn’t easier to find someone in Maine that could win median voters, was it?

And based on Trumps victories and Platner’s current polling, the median voter is fine excusing it. Which means you run with the person that can win and not the “ideal” candidate who only exists in our minds.
June 4, 2026 at 10:52 PM
Maybe not, but he would grope & harass women constantly, hang dong in front of whoever was in his vicinity, and used the N-word the way one might comment on the weather.

He also won a Texas Senate seat as a Democrat three times.
June 4, 2026 at 9:53 PM
The words and actions of LBJ would make the bluesky commentariat have a collective aneurysm, yet he passed more the most progressive legislation since FDR that still positively impacts the American public.

Folks need to quit clutching pearls and dedicate themselves to winning.
June 4, 2026 at 9:09 PM
Plenty of normal regular Mainers support him, which is really all that should matter if he would consistently vote with a Democratic caucus.
