The IIHF council made its decision based on two factors: security and consistency. Organizers of the upcoming Men’s and Women’s Worlds (Germany and Czechia) had serious security concerns about hosting Russia and its fans, with the Germans saying the inclusion of Russia would be a security nightmare.
The IIHF has announced that Russia will not participate in the 2026–27 IIHF Championship season's Men's World Championship, World Junior Championship, or U18 World Championships following an event-by-event review.

Gianni Infantino's #2 quits.

Yet another excoriating statement saying it's bad for football. It's bad for member states. It's bad all round.

My opinion is - Infantino is on borrowed time now.

Absolute shithouse of a man.

This is a really good train of thought to read
The question international sports federations (IFs) are asking is: why did the IOC provisionally lift its ban on Russia now, when nothing has materially changed in Ukraine? And why leave it up to the IFs? There are two possible explanations being floated and they may be linked.

If there was ever a time for the “Sure, Jan” meme, it’s in response to FIFA’s last statement.
Statements flying everywhere. Here is FIFA’s response posted at 8:15pm Pacific Time.

“Nono we never wanted to sell the game.”

“Hear us out. We were rushed by media reports.”

This is the biggest trying to back off without backing off statement I have seen in some time.
