What is it and why should you care?

Gerrymandering is redrawing maps in a way which changes election outcomes.

In a democracy we should want elections to reflect the public's opinions.

Gerrymandering can make government ignore some voters in favor of others

Our rights are under threat more each day, but many Americans don't realize that because they don't know what rights they have.

Knowledge is the foundation of participation.

If 1st Amendment rights are limited, then all rights can be limited.

Just as the 2md Amendment says "shall not be infringed"

The 1st Amendment says "Congress shall make no law"

We don't talk about due process like we used to.

Example: this is from "Incredible Hulk" 305 in Feb 1985.

Teens & Young Adults absorbed this in pop culture. We don't have that anymore.

Prices are usually set through a system of supply & demand.

However, with a small number of large sellers in a market prices will often in spite of market conditions.

While we're seeing a slightly decreased supply, & the oil wholesalers are pricing based on uncertainty more than supply.

Freedom of the Press is foundational to democracy.

If the people have no way to understand what their government is doing, and what is happening in neighborhoods other than their own, then votes are meaningless because they are uninformed. #civics #DonLemon
