Searching for Boku no Hero Academia Vigilantes instead increases the bootleg count to ~260 items...

@milesofficial.bsky.social Why do these still exist? it's not even limited to this series

Wasn't the video quality of the FMA Movies Japanese 4K Editions worse than the regular Blu-ray?

Hit anime? well...

As this post was shared multiple times:
One important issue here is, that at least on the Retrocrush 24/7 stream on Cineverse, which is as far as I know the only non-regionlocked option, it's impossible to turn off CC.

Thanks for the explanation.

Going by the Standard Closed Captions should be an optional part of the image / stream and not burned in. At least I never found an option to turn them off:

The other unrelated issue was: It is available outside the licensed areas

If streaming execs of other companies ever cared, Netflix wouldn't use subtitling with worth features than thatt old 1997 vobsub standard.
Same for Prime, Disney and all the other "mainstream" services.

Still, one could do worse like smashing 4 hardsubs on top of another: bsky.app/profile/anis...
Just perfect.
Who needs subtitles when you can just slap "singing in Japanese continues" over it 😍

Sometimes I wonder: Don't these companies need approvals for their promotional pics?

I doubt that they'd approved this name for a US streaming service
October 2, 2026 at 6:21 AM
For US companies? right
But otherwise Toei Europe seems to be worse in many ways. It's almost impossible to get some of their titles for streaming or home video, especially the dubbed versions.
And don't forget the recent censorship issues with the German version of Daima (no Mr Popo)

Their subtitling quality is below average and whilest they started simuldubs in early 2025, some of their non-English dubs are just horrible.

e. g. recording German dubs in Spain or South Africa just to save some money
October 1, 2026 at 1:09 PM
The selection of Netflix is smaller, but they have many of those main stream titles with dub - e. g. Naruto, Pokémon, One Piece, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia,...

Most anime fans seem to underestimate the market share of Netflix and prime video. Netflix alone is said to have about 40 % of the global anime streaming business.

It's just a guess but I assume Hidive / Sentai has some fixed length licensing contracts and sometimes it takes a little longer to negotiate the renewal.

Still, it's also likely that not every title gets such a renewal.

Crazy things happening in Germany:
Regular Supermarkets selling some Asuka Langley (Neon Genesis Evangelion) softdrinks

I use www.gs1.org/services/ver... to check and it works at least any figure manufacturer I tried.
September 30, 2026 at 2:25 PM
Likely not, because despite the country code for Japan is used, even with a corrected checkbit it turns up as an error.

Packaging even states it includes French & German Dubs & Subtitles as well, so it will be used in France to.

Could you check if the special features bonus disc is actually region locked or A+B?
September 28, 2026 at 4:12 PM
Relying on the age verfication system of discord might get you into legal trouble - because at least for the older version it is public knowledge that it wasn't accurate.
Thus you can't actually distribute age-restricted content unless you verfied the age of each user on a different way

Some releases have these borders, other use a Blu-ray sticker on the shrinkwrap.
