Ignorant comment. Not a surprise given the speaker. Just like when he said the grandmas and aunties should step up to help the child care crisis.
JD Vance on government funding for interpreters: "People should be speaking English in the United States of America. I think that's common sense."

Justin J. Pearson: “This new MAGA movement, it is an iteration of the Klan. It has mainstreamed racism, it has mainstreamed white supremacy, it has mainstreamed bigotry, homophobia, transphobia. It has mainstreamed all the worst of who we are as a country. This is a victory lap for white supremacy”

Sound familiar?
Fifty years after Argentina’s military dictatorship kidnapped, brutalized and killed thousands of people, the country’s government is defunding human rights groups and promoting a revisionist account of the junta’s crimes.

In a way, I find the authoritarian takeover of our media system even more disturbing than the authoritarian takeover of our political system.

Our political system has been failing basically my entire adult life. But, the media system provided accountability and sort of worked. Now it’s collapsing.

Look around.
Every corner of this country is awake.
People flooding the streets not out of hate, but out of love—for each other, for freedom, for the idea that we still matter.
They want us to be afraid.
To stay home.
To be quiet.
We refuse.
This is what democracy looks like.

Allows them to declare they are making America Healthy again because there will be less and less data to refute their claims. Of course if the data collection etc processes were so concerning….. they ‘could’ work to improve them….. but no…
The Trump administration took away food assistance from millions of families and kids to pay for tax breaks for giant corporations, then cancelled the government’s study on hunger.

Another disgusting attack on working families.

Let’s be clear—your rights don’t disappear because of your skin color, your accent, or your citizenship status. The Constitution doesn’t work like that, no matter how bad Republicans want it to. This Supreme Court ruling is dangerous and it’s only taking us backwards.

So wrong.
People missing an important point about folks getting fired for whatever they said about Charlie Kirk: Americans are being conditioned to be snitches on their fellow citizens who don’t toe a party line on what is “allowed” to be expressed. And employers are going along. It’s the new secret police

The murder of Charlie Kirk was criminal, wrong, and should be condemned.

And Charlie Kirk was a horrible, hateful man who spent his life radicalizing young people to embrace their worst demons by targeting women, people of color, immigrants, and the marginalized.

I refuse to sanitize him.

This.
Charlie Kirk called me a ‘lunatic’ and a ‘prostitute’ and demanded I be deported.

Nothing, *nothing*, justifies killing him, or robbing his kids of their dad.

We don’t know the identity or motive of the shooter but murder can *never* be the response to political disagreements.

Again: Faith leaders *themselves* have long also criticized "thoughts and prayers" rhetoric — including leader's Leavitt's own Catholic tradition.

Here are some examples from the past 24 hours, including a statement from Sisters of Mercy of the Americas (Catholic nuns) on the shooting.
